It also depends on your starting weight. It is more common for thinner women to gain more than more 'rounder' women. I have gained around 7 kg and I'm almost at the end of the 6th month but you can't really notice that I have because I was underweight in the first place. People don't even believe how far I am!!! I don't even overindulge and am not reaching out for the sweet stuff, I would say I eat like a normal person now. My midwife said as long as the weight gain isn't too extreme (due to possible complications, high blood pressure, diabetes, more strenous birth) and that you're eating right (not overindulging), the weight gain shouldn't be much of a worry because there are different factors that play a role and you usually gain what you need to.
I agree with everyone else. So long as you're not anorexic or depriving baby, all is well. I gained 50 lbs with my first pregnancy, 25 with my 2nd. And I am only 6 weeks now so we'll see how my weight gain goes. I was trying to lose weight before I got pregnant so I'm hoping I don't break 200 lbs. So hoping for a 25 lb weight gain or less since I'm eating healthy.
Thanks everyone for your responses .. Makes me feel much better now!
I'd say its completely normal.... I didnt start to gain any weight until I was about 23 weeks!
i didnt start gaining weight till after 20weeks, now 28weeks ive gained 7lbs
I just started gaining last monht (I am 6 months now), and I already put on 5.5lbs, which doctor said is fine because they are looking at overall number, but I think I am going to say NO to sweets.
With my first I gained almost 80 lbs my whole pregnancy. Not that I want to gain, but I know it comes with pregnancy.
I eat, I satisify my cravings.. most of the time atleast.
It's completely normal! I didn't start gaining weight until I was about 25 weeks. And by the end of my Pregnancy I had gained 43 pounds! So its normal to not gain weight until mid second trimester or even third trimester. I was nauseous my entire first trimester and some of my second and I think thats why I didn't gain anything. But boy did it catch up on me!
I am 17 weeks 6 days and I too haven't gained a pound but I feel the baby often. I eat good and satisfy my cravings. I'm not worried as I didn't gain any weight with my first until about week 20.
every pregnancy's different. as long as you're eating when you're hungry, satisfying cravings and growth rates on scans are within the norm, i wouldn't worry. i've heard of women only gaining the baby's exact birth weight. usually, pregnant women put on around 2 stone, but it isn't always the case and is no reflection on your baby's health to vary from that, it's just a rough guide.
