OMG...I don't know what to think
ok all you late nighters. i have some very interesting news and i'd like to get some feedback on it. as some of you know, i work midnights at a hospital. well the lab tech happens to be one of my good friends. i asked her to do a BETA for me and i got some puzzling results. I have an hcg level of 4. She also had me do a urine test and it came back with a faint + as well. The only thing is, the urine tests don't detect hcg levels less than 20. Also, you aren't considered pregnant unless you have an hcg level of 10 or higher on a BETA test. So the puzzling question is....am i pregnant or not?? this is killing me!!!!
I have just had the same thing happen. Tested positive with faint line. Went to doctors at 3.5 weeks later that day and tested 9 HCG in my blood.
Went home next day tested positive with faint line. My test said it only detects 25HCG+ so I have no idea what is going on. That was on Thursday, it is now Sunday and I tested again today, still faint positive. Is the blood test wrong, or do they measure different types of HCG?

usually i dont stay up this late i usually go to bed atleast by 2 but i just cant sleep tonight i wake up at 5 in the mornings while my bf gets ready for work and i make him coffee then im usually up for a few hours then fall babck asleep only recently that is :) and i dont have a job. but i help my boyfriends mom run errands help with the bf's neices and lil sis etc. soo im here every now in then through out the day lol :) porn i was never a fan lol
do you sleep during the day as well? i haven't stayed up that late intentionally in a very long time, lol. i'm only 24 yet sometimes my body feels like it's telling me, "hey, slow down. you've already worn me out in these 24 years!" working midnights is nice in some ways but it totally sucks when it comes to your body. i stay tired, i feel like i never get enough sleep, i eat constantly b/c the hospital that i work at is in a very small town and we don't really see too much excitement so i get bored some nights...that's why i'm on here so much. i work in the ER as a clerk and we have only had 2 patients after 12am. lol. i'm not complaining. i've gotten all of my busy work done so i can sit here on the internet and do whatever...except look up porn...LOL. that's a joke by the way. i wouldn't look up porn even if i could. ha.
i love the sound of laughter its soo uhmm well im not sure lol. i cant wait either lol till sunday just more for you to have to wait for lol not a bad thing tho. i have no idea what i would do with out my computor id proly go crazy sad to say lol

i have learned that in order to get anywhere in life one must maintain a positive attitude and keep the faith! who likes to be sad and misreable? not me!!! i like to smile, laugh, and make jokes at my own expense. i love to make others laugh and smile as well. always keep that chin up...b/c everything happens for a reason.
i know what you mean about the clear discharge. it does feel like you're starting your period. i hate that feeling! if you're only spotting pink that's still a good sign. a lot of women spot in early pregnancy. i can't wait to find out your results. unfortunately though, i leave work at 7am CST and i don't have a computer at home. i don't work tomorrow night so i won't know your results til sunday night! that's gonna bug me all day! lol. i gotta get my computer fixed!

thursdays a long wait lol i dont blame you on wanting to take a few hpts lol they can be addicting haha !!! new car or hpt's lol id personally go with hmmm the hpts lol im an expert at taking them well i think so any way im sure most of the woman here are also experts such as yourself :) i use the ones from the dollar tree they seem to be working for me giving me no probs and the best thing is there only a dollar but my boyfriend dont like me buying more then three at a time i have no clue why lol men lol yeah we will see. glad to see your keeping the faith thanx to you i decided to not let this get me down yesterday it felt like af was coming but only clear watery discharge. and very light pink spotting only when i wipe soo im hoping thats all it is is pink spotting just gotta have faith lol i wish you the best of luck on your hpt's till you can get in on thursday :)
i was going to retest sunday/monday but the lab tech said to wait til thursday (that's the next night that we'll be working the same shift). it sucks to have to wait that long. i'm prolly gonna try a few more HPTs between now and then b/c Lord knows i can't wait til next thursday!!!! LOL! i bet if i counted all the money i spent in a years time on HPTs I would have enough money to put a down payment on a new car! i'm just really really anxious now even tho my friend (the lab tech girl) doesn't seem to think i'm preggers. she thinks its some sort of interaction. but that's the way she was trained to think. she said anythings a possibility but if she were to guess, she didn't think that i was actually pregnant. we shall see though. i'm keeping the faith regardless!!

Some pregnancy tests can read very low HCG levels.I think first response can actually detect as low as 7. I will keep my fingers crossed
thank you all so very much! i really appreciate your enthusiasm!! you guys have made me feel lots better. i hope that i am preggers but if i'm not, i'm not going to let it get me down. i have a lot to be thankful for no matter what the outcome. but i'm gonna keep my fingers crossed...just in case, lol.

I sure hope you are pregnant. Your excitement is contagious. And of course all those 'what ifs?' are going to keep coming at you until you know for sure.
At least faint pink is still making itself known. I've gone so far in the past to hold a hpt up in the bathroom window so I could see the line(s) better with sunlight. Even worse, I've used a magnifying glass to look closer. Still looking for a second line someday.

The hCG hormone starts to be released into the woman's blood stream soon after the baby implants into the lining of her uterus at about 8 to 12 days after conception. The hCG blood level will initially start off very low (5 IU/L), but then rapidly increase, doubling every 2 to 3 days, so that within a few days to a week or so the hCG level becomes high enough to be detected in the woman's urine, at about 50 to 80 IU/L. Once this level is achieved, a urine pregnancy test will show as being 'positive'.

For those of you who are interested, or are having hCG monitoring, here are the suggested reference ranges for a single baby pregnancy. As you can see the range of normal levels is very wide. hCG levels can be 30 to 50% higher than for a single baby pregnancy, in twin and multiple gestations.

i'm 15dpo. AF is due Sunday unless i miscalculated..that's always a possibility. I'm freaking myself out. i've been looking up things on the internet and i've found that hCG presence when not pregnant can mean a variety of different things including, cancer, antibodies....omg!!! lol...i gotta stop looking this mess up or i'm going to psyche myself out!!!
Interesting, I didn't know you could do that. But either way, if it showed a positive (even if faint) its still a positive! How many days DPO are you?

Hmmm.... I honestly don't know what to think about it. But I don't think your levels would drop a lot in just a couple hours. I'm sure that your next tests should give you more info.
well, i actually got a faint positive when i woke up this afternoon. that would have been considered my FMU since i work at night and sleep during the day. well, i came to work and told my friend and she decided to do the BETA. It showed only 4. Well, then she decided to use the blood serum on the urine/serum test. you can use either on the tests that they have in our lab. the serum showed a faint positive ....faint, but bright enough that we both agreed it was a positive. you could clearly see 2 lines there. i'm scared. i don't know whether to be happy or what...maynot even be preggers....or what if it is ectopic? we are gonna wait and recheck my blood again sunday night/early monday morning. keeping my fingers crossed!! please pray for me!!
