OT- I'm very frustrated with things....

So I've decided I am going back to work full time on monday.. We are behind on all of our bills and I just can't stand that.. right now we are recieving WIC for Aubrees formula.. so I go into the WIC office to inform them that I will be going back to work full time and I give them my income ( what it will be) and they tell me that we will be 400 dollars over the income limit for WIC so we will no longer recieve it.. WE also have medicaid for my and Aubrees insurance .. well apparently I will loose my insurance with medicaid no biggie I guess but they are saying that since my work offers insurance they will no longer cover Aubree... so I checked into our insurance and it is 160 every 2 weeks for my and aubrees insurance... I'm like oh my god and they I see it is 70/30 they pay 70 % and I pay 30 % which means co pays for both me and Aubree will be 30 to 40 dollars a visit.. and prescriptions are $ 20 to $30 dollars... I'm just so discouraged.. here I am trying to go back to work to do whats right for my family and I added it all up and its gonna cost us more for me to go back to work ( gas, babysitter, insurance, and formula)  I just don't understand.. so these programs will help us when I sit at home on my butt but when I want to go back to work to help us catch up on everything its gonna end up costing us more.. maybe I'm naive or whatever but I thought these programs were designed to help WORKING families... apparently I was wrong.. I am just so frustrated

In the state of Texas, you can keep Medicaid as a secondary insurancen if you don't make over the income bracket for Medicaid. I know you can make more money on the Medicaid program than other state aides. Maybe look into that. The health coverage is important. Check it out before you lose hope. I had Aetna Ins and Medicaid as secondary with my pregnancy and now ALL four of my kids have Medicaid as a secondary ins. Good luck! These state programs aren't designed to keep our families together........Maybe if they'd help couples as much as they do single parents there wouldn't be so much divorce. Money is the root of all evil and divorce.....lol

I totally know how you feel.  I am going through the exact same thing.  this topic gets me so mad!!  My husband and I make 400- 450 a month to much for wic also.  So for us to be able to afford to feed our daughter I am going to have to breastfeed for as long as possible. I mean we could buy the formula but we would be totally broke on top of everything else she is going to need.  And then I have had insurance through my work for the entire length of my pregnancy and I am 35 weeks preggo and I already owe $1000 in medical bills from what my insurance doesnt cover.  IT S*CKS!!!!!  It is so frustrating.  It really make me mad because if wic would go by how much I actually brought home and not how much I grossed we would be just fine.  They take $800 from me a month for insurance and dumb taxes.  OH IT MAKES ME SO MAD!!  and then I have a friend who for the last 6 years has sat at home on her a$$ doing absolutely nothing and she gets her apartment completely paid for, her and her kids are on medicaid, she gets $450 a month in food stamps, and a paycheck from the state for child support since her babies daddy's are worthless.  It just isnt fair.  I think they should help out the ones that have jobs and are actually trying.  The system is so screwed up!!

I was reading in some news articles, that WIC and DSHS will be raising the standard about you can make in a month.  I think it starts Nov 1.  So check with them about this.  Like for a family of 5 you can't make more than (and I could be slightly off on this number) $4250 a month.

I think you should sit down and really think about it.  You could always go work part time somewhere and have your family or someone watch Aubree so your not paying for daycare!  Think really hard about it.

After I had my first, I went back to work full time and after 3 months of paying for daycare, I quit because I was getting $2 an hour after daycare, gas, groceries, and pud/water and all that.  My dh told me and we weighed this out carely before I quit, it would save us much more money for me to stay home.

Maybe you could offer to babysit someones kid and you get paid for it?

My friend pretty much goes thru the exact same thing that you are.  She went and got a job at an insurance company, but was told by Medicaid that she would be making $1/hour too much to qualify.  So, she went and got a job at Wal-mart as a cashier so that she could still have Medicaid for herself and her daughter (who would need daycare while she was working ...which wouldn't have been covered either if she stayed at the other job).

The difference in your situation from my friend's, however, is that she *doesn't* want to get up off her butt and do things for herself or her daughter.  She's a complete hypochondriac and will 'make up' illness/accidents to get attention or get out of things (like her job at Wal-mart).

I applaud you for trying to do what is right for your family ...and it completely ***** that Medicaid won't cover you or your daughter in this situation.  It's not fair that people who are unambitious and don't give a **** get free stuff handed to them, and those of us that want to do better for ourselves and our families can't!  I hope that you can figure something out!

Well i would sit down and think about it long and hard. Which would be better for you? Staying at home with WIC/Medicaid or going back to work and adding on the cost of other insurance that doesn't sound like very good insurance...I pay 110$ a month and I get 90/10 coverage! How much is your deductable?! I mean...garsh..Depending on how much you make...at the end of the day will it be worth going to work?
