OT- Possible tick bite????

Ok so I posted this on Maternal and Child forum but I really need more opinions and peace of mind. So my 22 month old has a bite I noticed yesterday. It looks like a bulls eye. small dot in the center with a lighter ring then a darker ring around it. I dont remember him getting bit by a tick. I would have noticed something like that. My question is could he have gotten bite by a tick and the thing just fallen off on its own?? I couldnt have been there very long if it had happened that way, im just so confused:~( He isnt acting any diffrently.........well maybe a bit more fussy that last few days:~( I dont know what to think. Or maybe its a spider bite??? So frustrating. Sorry the picture didnt show the bite too well:~( I just gave him a bath and I noticed on right below his knee that looks worse than the one I pictured. The red in the middle is darker like he had been scratching and he has a bunch of welts all over, maybe 5 total. I was assuming the welts were mosqito bites. A friend of mine looked at the picture on FB and said it looks like ringworm. I googled that and I dont think it looks anything like ringworm. I am bringing him in to the clinic tomorrow morning but I was wondering what you ladies thought.

If you can afford to, go to your vet and buy Frontline for your pets. It works wonderfully.

well I am off to get some flea and tick colars tomorrow for both ore dog and cat although I am almost 100% sure they dont have fleas. Neither has been scratching. The container of food is also going. I just feel so gross now. I mean I have 4 kids so my house is always messy but its not dirty or anything. But man have I felt ichy lately just thinking about bugs, ugh!
After I gave Dalton his meds this afternoon it seemed like the bumps/bites and welts seemed to be going away. But when I looked at him before bed I noticed a small one on his ear and another on his arm:~( I washed all his bedding and disenfected everything, its just weird that its just him. I am also going to give him his meds at diffrent times rather than at the same time. He is only 23 lbs 4 ozs (5% for being 22 months old) and I think that is wayyyy toooo much meds to give him at once! He just konks out:~(
And thanks smjmekg!! I am so excited that she is starting to walk!!

Well some kind of bug laid eggs either in the bowl or the bag was contaminated. Perhaps if the bag is contaminated some of the eggs hatched in kitty's bowl. I'm not sure what flea eggs looks like. My stray kitty that I just let in has fleas and it is very difficult for me to see them unless I look for them. Of course I've treated her so there shouldn't be fleas anymore but she's still scratching a little so I assume whatever I gave her wasn't strong enough.

Elijah kinda has the same reaction to bites. Mosquito, ant, whatever bites him he looks horrible! He had one bite on the side of his foot, the outside edge that made half his foot look bruised!!! I think it's just Elijah being new to bites that is what's causing it. Warm baths and hydrocortisone seem to help him. They usually go away on their own in a few days. I also put neosporin and a bandaid on some of them just so he won't scratch and if he already has it won't leave a scar.

I'm glad the doctor doesn't think it's a tick bite, that would be strange if he had so many! I hope your day got better, I saw Taylor took four steps, that's great!

thanks Laura and LosingMyMind!! The doctors didnt really know either. They believe he is just very sensitive skin or some kind of allergic reaction. The Zyertec and benydrl seem like they are doing something (besides putting him to sleep, lol) the redness has gone down some already!!!  It was just really scary that so many popped up within a few days! We were also outside all week helping with a garage sale and some of the girls were complaining about fly bites but IDK what those look like either, lol.

I don't think it's a tick bite.  Matter of fact Gabe has 2 of those same looking bites on his elbow.  Same red ring around them and everything.  I figured they were spider bites becuase we've had a pretty bad problem with spiders this summer.  I've been watching Gabe's to make sure they don't get worse, as long as they stay the same or get better I won't take him to the doc but if they get worse I will.  What did the doc say it was?

I didn't read all of the responses, but that doesn't look like a tick bite to me.. Especially since he seems to have multiple affected areas. We have ticks like crazy here, and my dog had lymes, as did my brother in law, and the lymes target is usually very dark and defined. I am NO expert, I would see a Dr. if it doesn't improve by morning, but Joy gave great advice, and that is my cents..Good luck. Keep us posted.

The bug things in your cat's dish is most likely eggs that have recently hatched. I would throw out the bag of food and get a fresh one. You may want to contact the company to see if you can get your money back for that bag.

Yuck! I just opened a bag of peanuts yesterday and had the same nasty bug things in it and I about threw up.

thanks Rachel! Taking it to the laundry mat or going out to eat really isnt an option. We are so strapped:~( I will be going to my moms soon and do it there and its free, lol! Dinner will be sandwiches or something..............and the microwave still works, lol!
Cassandra- I did take him in. He was put on 3 diffrent types of medication.

I gave him his first dose of the meds around 3 pm and poor kid just fell out. I know Benadrly makes you sleepy but I didnt know the Zyrtec did too! Poor guy!

When I was bitten by a tick, it stuck in there and never looked like that... It had to be taken out with tweezers, embarrasing because it was right at the top of my thigh on the inside next to my woohoo,(I was camping LOL)

Erm, if the imflamming hasnt gone down with your basic gel and things for bites within a few days take your son to the docs and they might be able to give you something better, as long as it isnt in there anymore it should be fine:)

thanks Connie but nope its not ringworm.
The doctor couldnt for sure tell me what it was. She said the one on his hand "looked" like it could be from a tick bite, but she didnt think so because I would have seen it there. She said it had to attach for at least 36 hours. I did get the blood test for Lymes done on him and will know by monday hopefully. The doctor says he has hypersensitivity to whatever bite him. Spider, mosqito, any...............she also said to check our pets for fleas. Our dog and cat get bathes every week because of allergys so I dont think so, but..............Heres the weird thing. I went to check my cats food late last night and realised she had knocked he water dish behind the washer (her food is in the laundry room to keep the dog away) Anyways I could find it so I took her food dish that had to parts and started scopping her food to one side so I could put water in the other. Well on my way to the bathroom I saw a bunch of the dusty stuff from her food, or so I thought. It was hundreds of little buggy things so tiny, almost ant like look to it. I cant figuar out what they are or what they are from. I cleaneed everything out and disenfected with Lysol but the only place they were was in her food dish. The bag of cat food looked fine. My mom and MIL keeps telling me its fleas but I cant find any on my dog or cat or anywhere eles for that matter. They also didnt jump at all, I always thought they jumped from pet to pet and so forth. So I just dont know:~(They also dont look anything like the pictures on the internet.  Anyways back to Dalton. The doctor put him on hydrocortisone, benadryl and Zyrtec for a month to clear it up. We go back for the second Lymes blood draw in 10 days. UGH! So frustrating!! And to top it off I get home after driving in a van that has no a/c and it 90 plus degrees outside with increadby high humidity to find a note on my door saying my gas is cut off!! So I cant wash all my bedding or sterilize anything because I have no hot water, no stove, no dryer!!! Ugh!!! I guess there are people out there worse of than me, so I will stop complaining:~( Long day already and its not even close to being over yet:~(

I hope it's nothing!!! Poor Dalton, I hate when we can't talk to them and see what hurts/itches...Elijah's just now getting where he can tell you something hurts, but it's kinda hard to tell when it really hurts or when he's just saying it.

this is soooo frustrating!! I talked to a nurse this morning and she said I need to get him seen asap today. Her son is going through treatment for Lymes right now. Its running rapid right now in Minnesota. Anyways there are no opening and I have tried 3 diffrent clinics!! Trying the 4th as I type. If all eles fails I will bring him in to the ER. Update this morning- He has another welt on his back. Looks like a mosqito bite only its surounded by a red mark thats as large as my hand!!! Its like he is very alergic to mosqito bites or something. The other welts are starting to look like the other bite marks. A dot in the middle surrounded by a lighter color and than red.
Ok I got him an appointment but I have to leave my house asap because its a 45 minute drive. I really hope they can tell me what this is!!! Please keep your fingers crossed that its nothing!!!

the reason i suggested hydrocortisone (as opposed to say, benedryl) is because it reduces swelling and inflammation as well, not just itching...but yeah you can definitely call a Nurse HelpLine that may be a good thing to do for now.

goodnight girly hope the little one looks completely mark free in the morning :)

Hydrocortisone might be fine; that is what I use on my girls for many ailments! You can always call Poison Control or the Ask A Nurse line to double check.

thanks ladies. I didnt think an allergic reaction, but yes I guess its possible. I havent given him anything for it either since he isnt itching it. Times like this I wish he could talk and tell me whats wrong! He is a little irritable but other than that he is the same old Dalton:~) I will be taking him in after I get my older boys off to school in the morning. I sure hope they can squeez me in! I will keep every one posted after I find out what it is.
Im off to watch The Bounty Hunter with DH and get some sleep.
Thanks again girls!

oh wow where has my brain been I didn't realize there were so many of them...I still think it looks like what I said in my response to your picture maybe a couple of them biting him...I would have said put hydrocortisone but I would trust Joy on this one so probably don't put anything until the eval by a doctor.
