OT--"weaning" 8 month old from sleeping in pitch black

i think the title says it all, i need to know how the heck to wean ariana from sleeping in pitch black..
when we first moved in with my parents we lived in the basment bedroom, so as you can imagine, ariana got accustomed to sleeping in pitch black (just a bathroom light on with the door cracked)... she has slept in that room from day 1. whenever we go somewhere and put her in a room with windows, she wakes up at sunrise and has a difficult time sleeping the rest of the morning. i have put her in the closet before (the door was vented or whatever) in desperation.
we just moved up to the upstairs two bedrooms (which is SUCH a blessing), but i have tin-foiled her windows so she can sleep. its super tacky, i know, but is temporary until i can get black out curtains.
so my question is HOW can i wean her from this? or do i NEED to? its not a big deal, but id hate for her to have to black out every room she sleeps in for the rest of her life. any suggestions/experience with this problem?
thanks!!

she will learn on her own but all babies do not have the schedules we want them to have. Some babies are mornign babies and some not, we can not change that. Also as babies grow they can change thier schedules. She might eventually want to sleep not as long at night then take a 2-3 hour afternoon nap with no other naps through the day.

I would just let her set her schedule and let her body adjust how it needs too. As long as she is sleeping at night that is what matters.

I do not think putting her in the closet is good though. Anything could happen. Babies will wake us and even get up to play at all hours that we would rather them not but thier little bodies just tick how they tick. It is fine and we can not schedule everything. Life just changes after you have kids sleep and all.

I honestly wouldn't worry about it.  The way your body regulates sleep naturally is by producing melatonin.  Your body is triggered to start the production of melatonin when the sun goes down, it will keep producing it until sunrise.  Once your body realizes the sun is coming up it will quit producing melatonin and the sunshine will continue to flush the remaining melatonin out of your system.  The production of melatonin is what makes you tired, when it is flushed from your system this is what wakes you up.  Sorry if you already knew all that but I wanted to explain just in case you didn't.  Anyway, my point is that Ariana is doing what her body is supposed to do naturally so I wouldn't worry or do anything further than getting black out curtains.  She will eventually get used to sleeping even when it's not pitch black.

When she gets older she should be fine. My daughter used to sleep with black out blinds and then we moved at put in regular curtains. She had a hard time sleeping the first couple of weeks but I realized if I kept her up late and put her to bed super tired she wouldn't wake up with the sun. After a week of so she started being able to nap and what not in a not pitch dark room. Now at 3 she sleeps in her room with no nightlight and the door closed and is in no way afraid of the dark.
