OT: Chicken Pox?!?!?!?!

I think my baby has chickenpox but I'm having a hard time finding pictures online. Has anyone's child had chicken pox and you took pictures of the EARLIEST stage of them? She has tiny red spots all over her chest/tummy and her back. They don't appear to itch. I need to know ASAP because my husband has never had chickenpox (to his knowledge... his mother said he did but she doesn't always remember things clearly) and my toddler has never had them either.

She just got the immunization for chickenpox so I'm wondering if maybe that's what also is giving her symptoms now. I wish I knew more about this stuff before getting the vaccine, but it's in the past and I need to focus on the here-and-now.

Help!!!

P.S. Anyone ever hear of a chickenpox party? A group of women will come and expose their children to your highly contagious child when they have chickenpox so that they naturally get the immunization. Totally weird! But totally cool at the same time!

Well it does look like your baby has chicken pox, but a VERY mild case. Believe me, a bad case is where she's not got a clear square inch on her body. lol

She's probably fine. BTW, your little girl is ADORABLE.

When I had them as a child it was terrible.  I still have scars for them.  Thank God for modern medicine!!!

Thank you, onlyme27! That is precisely what the nurse said over the phone. That it is mild and shouldn't turn into blisters (thank You, Jesus)!

My son had chicken pox at about 1 year old.  He had the little red bumps but they did not turn into blisters.  he ran a slight fever and was moody.  I wasn't sure if it was chicken pox but I thought it might be.  I took him to the doc and was told that it was the chicken pox.  Since he had the immunization, it did not turn into blisters or seem to bother him too much.

Ha ha ha! Yes he probably would freak. My DH is freaking out (he's never had it to his knowledge). It's actually good if your little one gets a mild case becasue their bodywill build antibodies against virucella. I've seen some nasty and disgusting pictures online of just how bad it can get.

Joy, Scratching causes scars w/chicken pox. my little bro got them twice but both times it was a mild case. when I was 2 I had them so bad I hallucinated.(sp?)

The little bumps are a side effect of the vaccine, it's actually a mild case of chicken pocks. check the little one for a fever, and if she has one administer baby asperin and a cool bath.
maybe get a little calamine lotion prepared incase a little itching starts. It's all normal. This is coming from what I saw with my brother. And he's fine. my DH has never had em either. Boy wouldn't he bug out if our soon to be little one got em.

Okay I posted two pictures. One of her tummy and one of her back. The back one is a little washed out because my camera just plain stinks. Anyway, the first two pics in my album are photos of it. You have to click on them and make them bigger to see anything. There's actually more than you can see in the pictures.

Just wondering if anyone thinks that is the beginning stages of chickenpox or if it is a heat rash or milk allergy (she just started whole milk after drinking soy formula).

Joy I remember my Chicken Pox vividly because I'm into gore and stuff :) They are like little bubbles and some are bit yellowy must be a later stage of the spot. I can remember what happens when you scratch them because my Mum was very serious about me leaving them alone! I have a couple of scars on my belly from picking the scabs because they get a scabby stage and that is when they are most infectious. I'm not sure they itch at first I think they get to an itchy stage so she'll cry because she won't be able to itch. Also they get everywhere!! Head, eyebrows and my sister got them on her bits!
If she has them Calamine Lotion is the best for the itching.

She turned a year old last month, so I guess "technically" she's not a baby! Ha ha! Um, but yeah---the very beginning stages aren't itchy. I think they become itchy at the next phase (there's four phases---it's great what googling can do). Anyway, she should be fine. Thank you for your concern!

I had chickenpox when I was a kid, and back then at least, it wasn't unusual to have your children play with other children to get it and like you said build an immunity to it. I'm not sure how it affects a baby, though...I think I was about 10 when I had it. Maybe you should call your doctor and ask, especially since she just received the vaccine.

It's also a bit strange that it's not itchy...because I remember it itching like crazy!!!

The doctor's office just called me back and told me a "moderate side effect" of getting the immunization is a breakout of little bumps. She said they'd go away and that we don't have to treat them because it won't be a full blown chickenpox attack. PHEW!!!!!!!!

Mine had them, but I didn't take pic's sorry.  I do remember that it started out as small red blotchy spots, and then turned into little pimple looking things that itched really bad.  Has she been sick at all, it sounds like it could just be a viral rash, that usually starts on the stomach and chest.  Try some cool rags to see if it reduces the redness.  Poor Little honey!!
