One more questions since my doctor won't call me back

Still waiting for them to call me and let me know if they will schedule me for bloodwork. If they won't then I will find another doctor. I have 2 types of prenatal vitamins at home. I have over the counter brand from CVS and I also have a few prescription ones left over from my miscarriage last year, which ones would you take?

I totally agree with what alaysha said. My ex-SIL worked as a medical transcriber and knew facts like that. So while something does expire it really just loses effectiveness over time. Since these are vitamins and not necessarily medications I would take them with OJ (helps the absorbency).

Thank you so much!!  I never would have known that about not taking prescriptions if they are over a year old. I'm glad I asked. Thanks girls!

Weird fact: Most medicines in pill form just loose there strength after the expiration date. They don't actually go "bad". That's why its always best to use new medications since they are strongest in the beginning. But if you are in pain and have like percocet lying around that's over a year old it will still work as a pain killer but not as strong as it once was. I was trying to throw out old meds the other day and DH works in the medical field and got annoyed with me and gave me that info.

Okay I've been doing some searching for you and for me. Filled prescriptions shouldn't be taken if older than 1 year. OTC stuff lasts longer and usually has an expiry date on it somewhere. So use what is older if not over a year old.

I took OTC my entire pregnancy. I had a prescription but it made me too sick. Prescription is supposed to be better, but take whichever you feel better about. Make sure it's not expired as well. Prescriptions only last like a year or so.

Whichever doesn't make you feel ill. If there's no expiration I would just take whatever is older. I'm going through my medicine cabinet today and trying to figure out what to toss and keep so this is on my mind, LOL! When in doubt call the place you got your RX and see if they expire. I called on one of my RXs from 2009 and they told me they expire after 6 months of being filled.
