PLS HELP URGENT

Hi..i am 24yrs old & 13weeks pregnant 1ST BABY..i have just found out my nuchal transluency is 5.1mm & in blood dual test there is high risk of down & edward syndrome...risk is 1 out of 40 in down syndrome & 1 out of 100 in edward syndrome..is there any possibility of having a normal baby what will be the percentage..i dont want an abnormal baby..should i proceed with my pregnancy or abort it?? PLS REPLY URGENTLY...

worriedbabe...my thoughts were the same..there is still such a HIGH chance ofhaving aperfectly healthy baby...and even if the baby was born with a syndrome, a baby is a blessing and a miracle

i'm no mathematician...but look at it this way, there are 39 chances in 40 that your baby does not have down syndrome and 99 chances in 100 that baby doesn't have edward syndrome. an amniocentisis will give you a definite yes or no for down syndrome, not sure about edward syndrome. amniocentisis has a very small risk of miscarriage ( 1% ). no one can tell you what to do here, this is a very personal choice. but, you may want to talk to martikadragoon, another member on here, who has a beautiful son with down syndrome.
