Pain last night? What was it?

I could use any and all comments on this please!  I am 23 weeks 3 days pregnant and I woke up last night and my lower back was cramping (felt kind of like AF cramps to me), but I had to make one of my frequent trips to the bathroom, so I got up and I went and sat on the toilet (sorry TMI) and I had this horrible pain in my vaginal area, it felt like a lot of pressure, it was even hard for me to urinate.  It lasted maybe all of 45 seconds.  By the time I made it back to bed and woke DH up and told him about it, the pain in my back was already going away too.  It was about midnight eastern time and it is now 9 easter time and haven't felt anything like it since then - feel pretty good actually.  Was that I bh contraction?  I thought they were in you abdominal area?  This is my first pregnancy so any input would be great! Thanks.

Thanks ladies!  I am not too worried about it now, as I have felt fine since.  I was just wondering if anyone else has had this.  I think I did have bh contraction yesterday for the first time too, and definitely did not feel like this.  I have had round ligament pain in my abdominal area, but never down in the vaginal area.  I have a doctor's appt tomorrow morning for my 6 month check up, so I will mention it then.  Thanks again!

It could be several things. I know that further on in pregnancy, the baby can be in such a position that certain nerves can get pinched, causing a sharp, stabbing like pain in any one particular area. That happens to me a LOT.... Round ligament pain is really common and feels sort of like what you're describing, but is usually more like a pulling/stretching feeling. Lower back pain is normal during pregnancy as your spine shifts to compensate for your growing uterus up front.... Also your sciatic nerve can get pinched which can cause shooting pains in your tailbone area and sometimes down into your legs. It definitely doesn't sound like BH; BH make your entire tummy hard as a ROCK and push your uterus upwards slightly, lasting about 30-90 seconds. Some women dont feel them at all, and most women don't have any pain associated w/them (though they can be uncomfortable). Your aches and pains sound pretty normal - and unfortunately they'll only increase as your pregnancy progresses -  but you'll definitely want to mention them to your doctor at your next visit. Best wishes to you!

I am NO expert.. I am only 17 weeks w. my first.. But I have had some pains that sound incredibly similar to what you are describing and my Dr. said (at least for me) it is ligament pain..

I freaked out a little too.. Mine was more like someone was stabbing me in the vagina/tailbone area repeatedly, and it makes it hard to urinate at times.. Hope this helps? Keep us posted.
