thanks a lot everyone.. the paint smell is not very overwhelming.. its only the smell of freshly dried paint.. and the paint used is the household paint, the one used for regular house walls.
I just called my doctor to be on the safer side, and he says its nothing to worry! :)
thanks again, I am just trying to be cautious of anything that may harm my baby.. its a relief to know that bit of paint smell is ok :)
love all the support I get here!
I did a lot of painting while I was pergnant this time. My doctor said that with the paint now-a-days, you'd practically have to stick your head in the bucket of paint for it to cause harm...or sit in a very small enclosed space with fresh paint fumes.
Are the fumes overwhelming or is there just that smell of fresh paint? If it's not overwhelming I'd say there's no harm in staying. However, if it makes you uncomfortable it's best to talk to your boss and speak with your doctor about your concerns.
Perhaps you could give your ob a quick call and see what s/he thinks?
I personally would go home, or air it out if there is a window. I am a freak when it comes to any chemicals or harsh smells(paint, gas exhaust etc) You just never know, what kinds of paint were used and if it in fact is harmful. I know that there is a certain kind of paint to use for nursery's and that are safe to be around. Likely that is industrial paint though, right?
