Thanks all for your answers and clarifications, I am good now
A pap test is very important during pregnancy. Yes you might have some spotting but it is normal and will not hurt the baby. Your cervix is closed and your doctor uses a long tipped swab to rub the outside of the cervix. Staying far away from your growing bean:-)
It is also worth pointing out- a pap CAN hurt while pregnant. The cervix is more tender, and is also higher up. As you progress, these can become more and more uncomfortable. In my case, they were extremely uncomfortable (but I have a low tolerance for pain) They are however a necessary evil for your health, as well as your baby's. It won't hurt the baby, but it can cause bleeding. It should be light, nothing close to a period-like flow. Your doctor will of course be able to address all of your concerns, and can answer any questions you have more in-depth.
The doctor wouldnt do any tests tht would harm the bby, & a pap isnt going to harm the bby either. Yes, it is necessary because even though u have had one partner, being pregnant increases the risk of infection.. & u can still get infections from that one partner, or not even necessarily from sex with him, just sex in general.
I've never had a pap test hurt. They can be slightly uncomfortable, but they shouldn't hurt. You can have slight bleeding after due to irritating the cervix. A pap test won't hurt the baby. Pap tests are routine during pregnancy to check for certain problems.
