Also coming from a spa tech as well. Keep in mind tools an foot basins are sterilized an up to code. Not point in risking getting infection while pregnant!
I am a hairdresser/nail tech. There are definitely pressure points you need to avoid during pregnancy. Make sure you tell your nail tech that you're pregnant and she should avoid those points in your ankles. Also, you shouldn't get any type of massaging done in the first trimester. Massaging releases toxins in your body which can be potentially harmful to your newly growing baby. It's wonderful to get a pedicure or massage close to the end and really work those pressure points, but it is something you need to be mindful of in the earlier stages. It's not a guarantee it'll induce labor, but why risk it?
So, yes, you can get a pedicure, just have them be mindful not to do massaging (which I know is the best part, unfortunately)
I asked the same question months ago. It seems like it is fine to do them except as you get closer to the end of your pregnancy. There are massage points on your ankle from what I am told that will trigger labor. To be honest with you, I haven't had once since I found I'm pregnant.
yes you can. just watch the smells in some of those places. They can get pretty bad. I'm 26wks tomorrow and planning on going next friday for a pedicure.
