Position of Baby

Is it possible to tell the position of the baby by where you're getting kicked?

The reason I'm asking is because I rarely get kicked in my belly button region or that high. The kicks are always extremely low, and it feels like the baby is directly kicking my bladder.  I'll be sitting at my desk after just having gone to the bathroom, and all of a sudden I feel a sensation in my bladder, which I assume is the baby, and then I have to go to the bathroom immediately.

Some people talk about the baby in their ribs, but my baby seems no where near the ribs, and all just right on the bladder.

Is this normal?  And does this say anything about the baby's position?

I can tell by my bbys kicks or even hiccups where she is positioned! Sometimes her head is really low like on my vajayjay area and i feel her hiccups :') so by her hiccups i know where her head is and i can actually feel her feet it makes my tummy rectangle sometimes when she stretches and i can even feel her little toes it amazes me!! Shes used to always be on my ribs it hurts like hell but lately shes been puttiing her feet to the side. Babies are sooo amazing <3

I am 26 weeks and kinda concerned...my daughter's stays in my bladder at the 18 week ultrasound she was using my bladder as a pillow. Now at 26 weeks she never rises above my belly button. I am a bigger girl but I have only gained 4 pounds. I know everyone has a different story but I am starting to worry more and more.

it could also be little punches!! my doctor thinks my baby is head down, but occasionally i feel little punches in my bladder/cervix. but i used to feel hard kicks down there..i think thats what it is. even if your baby is breech right now then he/she has time to flip. :)

I get a sensation that there is so much pressure that I have to pee when I don't, I can't cross my legs, and sometimes it feels like he is going to fall out...lol.  I am only 26 weeks, but my baby has been in that same posistion since my 20 week ultrasound.  I just couldn't feel it then because he wasn't as heavy.  Luckily, my cervix is all closed up and the length is fine.  Doctor recommended I lay with a pillow under my butt to help him slide away from my cervix and relieve some of the pressure it works temporarily.

I think my little one went even lower yesterday.  The only way I can describe it is like feeling I have a soaked tampon in and it is driving me crazy.  Anyone else have that feeling?

The feeling in my bladder is intense.  I think a lightening bolt describes it perfectly!  It's so weird, because most of the baby moments I feel are below my pant line.  And I'm on 29 weeks.  I guess everyone carries babies different.

hey just for reasurrance, i am 38 weeks, and my babies head has been really low since about 34 weeks.  My doctor waS Actually very suprised at how low he was so early, i get a huge lightning bolt of pressure down there. is that what your talking about?  Ive had it for a while now but last night was so intense.  and also my pregnancy is almost done and i have never had a problem with my baby boy in my ribs, so dont worry too much, maybe our babies are just being considerate of us lol.. thats the way i look at it, although i do get some pretty intense pains on my sides when he moves sometimes so i know hes strong, just sweet lol...

Thanks for the reassurance.  I have an OB appointment over lunch today and will definitely ask about all this stuff. :)

The kicks in the ribs have started very recently maybe in the past week too.  I am thinking my baby is abnormally huge like my husband who weighed close to 11 pounds when he was born...lol.  Now he is 6'3 and weighs 250+ so I am pretty sure I will have a big boy!  Atia_Julii I bet your baby is doing just fine in there, and I have talked to other women on this forum about low babies and they discribe the same I bet that is what is going on with your little one. :)

maybe you'll feel the kicks in the ribs in a few weeks. i believe that the top of your uterus is at its highest at 38 weeks.

Interesting.  Maybe my baby's head is really low too, which is causing this.  What's weird is that I don't feel kicks in my ribs though.  Maybe I just have a gentle baby.  I kind of wish I felt stronger kicks.  It would be so reassuring. :)

I am 26 weeks and just last week I went to the doc because I felt the same as you in my bladder.  Tons of pressure, and I was also feeling very crampy/achy.  Turns out everything is OK, but my babies head is so low causing the sensations and presusure his head is on my cervix they could barely get a picture to make sure the length was good.  I feel what I am guessing are punches on my bladder, and kicks in ribs.  I also feel the rolling sensation really low, so I am assuming that is my little boys head when he moves/rolls over..

I really don't feel kicks or punches anymore.  All I feel are rolling/movement sensations.  In the second trimester, I would get kicked, and now, all the movements are way more subtle, so I'm guessing it's because of lack of room.  So unfortunately, I can't tell what's hitting my bladder, but something is, and ouch!!!

That's cool that you can feel the head.  Sometimes I think I can feel something hard in my uterus, but I can't tell if it's a head or a butt.  (or neither! ha!)

It can or it can't.  Are you sure you are feeling Kicks and not punches further down.  Some people can tell the position by feeling around.  I can usually tell where the head is once I get into the 3rd trimester.  For me, kicks are usually hard that punches.  Not all babies will get up into your ribs.
