Possibility of pregnancy??

How likely is it to become pregnant if you had unprotected intercourse days 5 6 7 8 8 and 9 of your cycle? My cycles vary from 28-30 days. We are both young and healthy. I don't know if that makes a difference. I have heard so many different things about when your "most fertile" time is. Some say only when you're ovulating and others say you are most fertile right after your period. I have absolutely no idea when I ovulate. Also, is it possible to ovulate earlier than 14 days and still have a 28 day cycle? Thanks!

A 28 day cycle you would normally ovulate around day 14. Your period normally comes 14 days after ovulation. So if you ovulated earlier your period would prob come earlier. Your fertile days are anywhere within 5 days before and after ovulation. Sperm can live a long time in there if conditions are right. Also if your periods are irregular at all you might not ovulate at the same time each month.

Bakersqueak is technically right. The bottom line is: if you do not want to be pregnant, then don't have unprotected sex. Also, are you aware of the risk of STDs? Unless you have both been tested and are in a monogamous relationship, the motto is: "No glove, no love".

Ovulation is when the egg is released from the ovary.  If no egg is being released, there is nothing there to be fertilized so you are not fertile.  Generally, the egg is released (ovulation occurs) midway through your cycle.  With cycles of 28 to 30 days, you would typically ovulate 14 or 15 days after the first day of your period.  Sperm can live inside you for up to five days or so.  The egg can live for about 24 hours unfertilized.  Thus if you have sex anytime between five days before you ovulate and a day or so after you ovulate, there is a chance you will get pregnant.  All that being said, it is not unheard of for women to get pregnant at various times throughout their cycles, even while on their periods.  This is more likely to occur if your cycles are not regular than if you are generally regular.

Well, like I said, we had sex on day 9 of my cycle. If I ovulate on day 14 or earlier..it is within this 5 day range. Also, we are in a monogamous relationship, we live together and love and trust each other very much. I am fully aware of ALL of the risks of unprotected sex. I never said I didn't want to be pregnant. We are not "trying to conceive" necessarily however, if it happened we would be fine with it.  I was just wondering what the chances of it happening were. Thanks for the advice.
