Preeclampsia?

I recently got put on blood pressure meds due to having really high blood pressure, and the past couple days I have had extreme swelling in my feet and ankles. My doctor at last appointment kind of ruled out Preeclampsia because there was no protein in my urine also, he did a blood test to check my platelets and everything was normal... what could this be? I have an appointment on Wednesday, should I wait or should I give my doctor a call?
