Pregnancy?

I have had 6 kids, I went through hell with each one and with my last she was my 2nd c-section and had my tubes done at the same time. Now this was over 10 years ago this past june that I had my tubes done and last c-section. All my children were preemie's and I never followed the normal pregnancy rules when I was pregnant in the past with the 6 of my children. I went through hell and for this reason I could not handle having any more children so fought with the dr and was forced to settle with having my tubes done.
For months I have had many signs of pregnancy, ranging from sickness, increased appetite, decrease in appetite at times, nausea from foods, many pains sharp and dull, baby movements, a foot, leg, arm, round like a head or bum, weight gain, breast enlargement, leaking milk. I have still had some bleeding all along but have gone from 10 pads per period to 1 pad during this time I would bleed. I have had normal periods up until last October. Any test I have taken has come back negative. Both ultra sound scans I was told were clear and nothing appeared to be there.
I could understand this being a phantom pregnancy if I really wanted another baby but I don't, I was done having babies when I had my last 10 yrs ago. I have seen so many dr's and they have all done the same, brushed me off saying i'm not preg because the tests come back negative. They do not even examine me when in the office just read the paperwork and push you out the door...... I need help, What could be going on with me and why isn't anything showing up in any testing?
Can someone please help me?

With all due respect, you have to be very cautious with how much of those rare stories you believe where a pregnancy went completely undetectable for 9 months.  In many of those cases, the woman ignored signs, did not know what signs to look for, and didn't receive the proper prenatal care.

From what you've said here, pregnancy is just about impossible.  I understand that you're grasping at straws, but don't be so convinced of one thing that you neglect looking at other possibilities.  At your age, the body is changing and could very well be preparing for menopause.  It could be any number of hormonal changes.  Based on your LMP, you would already have delivered had you been pregnant.

Just keep an open mind to all possibilities.  Ask your doctor for a transvaginal ultrasound, and to work you up for other possibilities.  I understand the symptoms are convincing to you, but at some point you have to believe what the doctors are saying.  It would be rare, impossible for every single test and study to miss a viable pregnancy, especially the hCG levels.  It would be impossible for the hCG levels not to show up in a urine or blood test, and the hormone HAS to be produced to maintain a pregnancy.

Yes I'm 38. Early Menopause was the first thing I did in fact look at. I was hoping it was what was going on but it doesn't seem to be this. I have had so much blood work done over the last 6 months I couldn't start to tell you what they haven't checked for because from day one the dr's didn't believe I could even possibly be preg. so they did everything else first. When nothing came back as out of the ordinary or showing as being a problem they gave me pregnancy tests..... One way or another something will be shown sooner or later. I just hope it's sooner than later.
I'm trying to get a referral to the woman's hospital but this seems to be a task that is harder than it should be. Hopefully I will have this, this week.

Another question I have..how old are you? Your profile reads you at 38, correct? If this is true, it's very possible you're body is getting ready for menopause and you could be perimenopausal. Usually this happens in your late 30's, early 40's.

It can also cause a whole variety of symptoms including hot flashes, breast tenderness, weight gain, fatigue, decreased sex drive, mood swings, and of course irregular period.

Did your doctor check your FSH levels, as well as your estradiol levels. You can request a history of all your testing to see if these were done. If not, you can request they do them. If you have had it done, your levels will be indicative of what might be going on.

My last normal LMP was October 12th. I have had normal periods all my life, Never missed anyone or had my period screwed up unless it was pregnancy in the past. All thru these past few months I have bled very lightly, going from around 10 pads a period down to 1 pad for last months back to november. They are no longer 24 day cycle it comes 23 days, 38 days, 22 days, etc it is never the same two months in a row, compared to clockwork that I was on........

any woman who has had a normal period that lasts 3-5 days, goes thru 10 pads, lots of clotting coming out etc down to 1-2 days bleeding using 1 pad and absolutely no clotting, for months would be a huge difference. When dr's are told it's no big deal. To me it is a huge deal and tells me something is def not right.

Hi murieljane

If you're really convinced you're pregnant despite the evidence to the contrary, you can request that your doctor do an abdominal cavity ultrasound and look outside of the uterus for a fetus.

If there is no fetus inside of your uterus, or outside, obviously you are not pregnant.

Hope this helps....

You talk about very rare cases. I never said doctors aren't wrong, because they can be frequently. This is why it's called a medical practice--not a science. However, there are some things that can't be ignored. Beta tests just don't read wrong. They look for the hormone that is only created while pregnant. I've never heard of a pregnancy that doesn't create this.

I mean, if you really think you are then you then you'll find out soon enough. When was your LMP?

Clysta ty again for your input. I appreciate that you want to stick with Dr's and medical profession that tests are never wrong. In my case many tests over my lifetime have been wrong, misdiagnosed by Dr's etc. There have been cases where a baby does not get picked up by anything, a pregnancy goes undectected. I am not saying this is my case but I am trying to get all facts, and diff ideas as to what could be causing this.

The fact I have felt limbs inside of me makes no sense. I have had 6 kids and I do know what limbs feel like. When I asked the dr what it could be all I ever get is I don't know. When ask what test they will do next all I get is I don't know.

I would be pretty foolish to rule anything out at this point without having proof one way or the other, but don't be quick to jump saying it's hormonal, or anything else. It could be just about anything at this point.

I thank everyone for the input and thoughts. It all helps.

Did you specifically ask for a beta test to be done? Otherwise, it wouldn't have been done. It is NOT POSSIBLE to be pregnant if there is no hCG present in the body.

If you were far enough that you feel random body parts, you wouldn't have to guess if that was a fetus or not. It would pop up and be very visible. As for contractions, they happen pregnant or not. By definition, an orgasm is a contraction. Signs do NOT mean you're pregnant--at all. You need a beta test done.

Yes all has been tested nothing is out of the ordinary. I requested as many tests to be done all at once there was about 20 in all and the only thing came back as being low was my immune for hep b which dr advised me to get the shot for hep b. Everything else in the bloodwork was normal. When I had the second scan done both myself and a friend who was with me questioned the tech cause we both thought we saw a fetus which we were both told no, then in back was a shadow but when I asked what it was all I was told was I don't know. She went on to say that everything was normal and there was no concern for alarm. Nothing was out of sorts.(more info than what they are suppose to say) This has been like out of the twlight zone. It's frustrating to no end as I am a figure skater and morally unless I know there is no baby I can not be on the ice doing the jumps just in case..... what do I do cause i'm so confused and lost at this point.  I should mention as well that I have been experiencing contractions.... I don't quite understand why I would be if there was no baby, I just don't understand this. I have all the signs of being preg and I mean every single solitary one of them..... very confusing to say the least

Have you had your hCG levels tested? If not, that's your next step. Viable or not, hCG will ALWAYS be present if a female is pregnant. If your levels are under 5, you're not pregnant--no matter how many symptoms you might feel.

All blood work etc has come back as nothing wrong everything is where it should be. I have been pushing to see specialists only to be told to see them we need more tests done, when those tests are done there are always more tests that need to be done in order to be referred. I wish our health care system was set up so much better than what it is today. I'll just keep pushing for the woman's hospital I figure there is best place to be. Now to get the dr to agree is another thing.
Thanks for your help

Joey I have heard of women having babies and them not even being found thru any testing. I wonder if this is what i'm going thru, I have no proof other than to allow others to feel the baby pushing etc and that is what it feels like..... if nothing else I hope something happens either way to figure this out. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

Have they tried a blood test?? that happened to my mom after she had my brother she got her tubes tied about 3 years later she was having the same pain as if she was pregnant...she ended up being pregnant the baby was growing in her Fallopian tube...she keep going to the doctor and they kept telling her no there was no possible way she was cause her tubes were tied..but she saw a specialist & he did a test n saw that there was a baby growing there so she had to get surgery to remove it...so i would bug your doctor to keep tryin harder to send u to take another test...i dont know how often this happens but it happened to my mom...good luck...but also dont stress about it hopefully its nothing bad.

I doubt you are pregnant if both urine and ultrasound testing reveleade nothing.  Phantom pregnancies don't just occur in people who are desperate to get pregnant.  It sounds to me like it may be more of a hormonal thing.  Have you had a hormone panel done?  Perhaps you are entering menopause?
