Pregnancy Tests....

there are always soo many post on here about how they think they see a second line or is it an evaporation line... and so on and so on..  why not just spring for the digital test? theres no guessing with those...  its either yes or no.  there is always coupons out there for 1 or 2 dollars off digital tests.. and in all honesty they arent much more expensive than regular line tests.  I think some woman want to be pregnant so bad they imagine a second line.. why put yourself through that... so heres some good advice just buy the digital... and wait til your period is late to test!

digital IS more expensive... and those who are desperate to get pregnant often go through so many tests before finally getting their BFP. I would have wasted a ridiculous amount of money on pregnancy tests if I had splurged for digitals during my months of TCC both times around. If I had gotten a questionable result, I would have gone out and bought another or a digital instead of posting a question. I personally don't read those posts, but I do understand how someone in a state of frustration, panic or confusion would post a question about it.
I'm sure if I were one of those people who had experienced the emotional rollercoaster of having a false positive or evaporation line, I would be more sympathetic and read/respond to those posts.

The new commercial out says " 1 in 4 woman misread a pregnancy test"  It is for the digital ones.  Made me feel much better about reading all of the posts on here about test confusion.

Linzola- it is very possible that you may have had a chemical pregnancy. Sometimes when women keep getting faint lines it does mean a pregnancy with low HCG. And then when they get negatives afterwards and start to bleed it might mean miscarriage.

The digital testes are great, but I seem to be a little offended that the post is geared towards me a bit... I swear there was a line and by a few other tests there are as well, althoughI know that they are not true positives because I have been having a light peroid now! But otherwise the digital tests are great, but typically I cant afford them.

I have problems with the digital tests though. Some of them are not as sensitive as the "line" tests. And they tend to be way more expensive. But I hear First Response has a new digital test that isn't too expensive and is more sensitive than most.

I think it's important to do homework and research a test before just blindly grabbing one at the store, hoping it is sensitive enough.

Also, I always tell people to test when their period is due or late. When you test early (8dpo, 10dpo, 12dpo) you're more likely to get a false negative and are just wasting money. Or you get those faint lines and freak, like the original poster said.

i always use the digitals.  each time it has been right on the money and your right there is no guess work and no getting your hopes up.  i really like the clear blue digitals because they test with such a low hcg.

I got the digital kind because I had 'thought' I saw a second pink line way too many times to mess around. It was such a relief to see 'pregnant' on the screen instead of guessing. Unfortunately, we lost the baby a couple of weeks later.

agreed! i did get postive lines on a regular test but had a digi to take. i was saving it! i wanted it to say pregnant. it did and honestly when that little word is staring you in the face you know its true!! takes the stress and guessing right out of it. i bought cheapos just b/c i tested way to much......then did the digital for peace of mind.

That is good advice, because it is very easy to stress yourself out thinking you see another line. Personally, I've never had a problem with those tests, even if I tested early. I just find the digital ones, more fun! lol.  I usually go online and buy the cheap tests. You can buy them in bulk and they are much cheaper than store bought ones. I bought 20 of them for 16 dollars (that included shipping) and I took all of them with my son, until I was 12 weeks. I'm a little obsessive, but then after going through 2 miscarriages, I just needed reassurance. =)  But yes, digital ones take the guess work out of it!!

LoL I think either test is FINE, as long as you read the directions.  Did you know that once taken both of the test have the same life span, thus there is a chance because of the evap line on both tests(so a neg. could turn pos. after the life span has run out)?!  And the tests also say that if there is even a slight second line then you're positive!  So I would go with that, because the first time I was pregnant(mc'ed at 7wks) the second line was always way light.

However, if you want to take the guess work out of testing then I would go with the digitial.  The down side is that they are a bit more expencive and they always say the more expencive test you buy the sooner you will get results, which I have found to be true!  So I think that it's up to the buyer as to what type of test you'll buy.

That is excellent advice.  That is what my sister did because she didn't want to mess with the line.  She was going thru fertility treatments and didn't want to get her hopes up.  I on the other hand get the dollar store tests, so a digital is a lot more expensive.   Waiting til your period is actually late is a very hard thing to do, but important.  Testing too soon can cost a fortune!
