I don't know anything about anti depressants or clomid really but really follow your cycle and see if you have enough natural lubrication during your fertile phase. I've heard that some different meds can really dry your cervical mucous up.
As far as I know, Prozac - or other anti-depressants - wouldn't have any affect on fertility. I was on Celexa (Citalopram) for a year due to health anxiety and discontinued using it in March 2009 because I had received help for my problems and was feeling like myself again. DH and I started TTC the following month and were successful in May 2009.
For me, it was a personal choice to discontinue the AD before TTC - I felt sufficiently well enough to do so, and, to me, the risks of being on the medication while TTC outweighed the benefits. My GP - who had prescribed me the Celexa - told me that I could stay on it while TTC if I felt I needed to and even go back on it after becoming pregnant if I found that my anxiety was creeping back, but at the same time, he said that not enough research has been done on the effects of AD's during pregnancy.
It took me a couple of months to wean off of the Celexa - originally, he had me just taper my dose and then stop it altogether....I felt awful, and so he ended up putting me back on it for a month, stop it and then take Prozac for 3 days (something to do with the half life of the medication)....after which time I stopped all AD's altogether. And it worked! DH and I didn't start TTC until I was completely weaned.
Good luck! :-)
Thank you, I see a fertility doctor and he is aware of the medications I am on. I maybe stressing myself out about this (which I know I shouldn't). I've been reading a lot about infertility and I came across something that said anti-depressants could cause trouble concieving and just wanted opinion of others.
I don't take anti-depressants, but if your doctor said not to worry, then I wouldn't think it would affect your ability to conceive. If you look up on google "prozac side effects in women" there are sites that give you POSSIBLE side effects, and rare side effects. Are you talking to your OB about the pills or is this a family doctor? Keep in mind it can take a while to get pregnant, my husband and I are on our 4th month trying and there are women on here who have been trying for much longer with no result. I would think your doctor would have mentioned it already if it could have an affect on your ability to conceive, but maybe give them a call and see if a nurse or someone can give you any information. Try a pharmacist if you can't get anyone at the doctor's office.
