Preterm labor

Hello this is my first post. My wife is currenlty by my side. I've read through a lot of posts and there is so much good information everyone shares so thank-you for everything I have learned so far.  Currently we are in the High risk sector. My wife desided to go in after noticing light bloody discharge. As a result we were transferred to a hospital with a well known NICU. We have been here for three days now. First she had minor contractions, dilation (3cm), with continuation of bloody discharge. She recieved her steroid for lung development and is now on a magnesium drip because of her increased contractions. I've read about the pro's and cons of the magnesium and right now all we can do is hope that the contractions slow/stop...unlikely though. Since I have read a lot my only question is though many of your experiences what are the chances of her going into active labor sooner than later. Thanks in advance.

We are both such good planners that when it comes unpredictability we cringe, but I guess that is what is expected from pregnancy. I haven't prayed for some time, but my mother reminded me to today. We feel fortunate as it is and are just hoping for the best.

Well the magnesium drip is definitely supposed to help stop the contractions. The good news is that your baby stands a pretty good chance of survival if born now, but obviously we don't want that to happen.

Because labor and delivery are so unpredictable (even at 40 weeks +) it is impossible to say if she'll have the baby tonight or 5 weeks from now.

Oh I forgot to mention that she is 28 weeks and that dilation has increased to 4-5cm.
