Progesterone Cream

I heard that this can be bought over the counter.  So, I just went to my local CVS, and the pharmacist said they don't have it.  Does anyone know where I can get this, or does it require a prescription?

You can also get a really good progesterone cream that is very close is molecular structure to what we naturally produce through Arbonne International.  You could probably google it to find the website.

It's smart to get a blood test first and I think you should definitely request that.  Most Western doctors do not know a lot about this and will probably not condone it easily.  But I personally believe it can be very beneficial.  Pregnant women naturally produce a ton of progesterone, but you're right:  many times you'll need to supplement.  I did with 2/3 pregnancies upon doctor's orders when the blood test came back too low.

One problem is Western docs don't know how it needs to be used (when not pregnant).  It should be used only in the second phase of your cycle (after ovulation), not every day of the month.  This is when your natural P is produced and may need supplementation.  Your symptoms alone CAN be an indicator that you need it.

BUT do play it safe when you're trying to conceive!  Get that blood test, but again, it needs to be done at the right time of your cycle or it won't tell you anything right.  They need to test your levels 3 days, 7 days, and 10 days AFTER you ovulate (which you need to know when THAT is--it may not be Day 14).

Good luck!

Yea... I would hold off.  You don't want to mess with something that could do more harm than good.  Talk with your doctor.  There is a simple blood test that they can run on CD2 of your next period.  Speak with your doctor and see if they think that this is something that can be ruled out as a reason why you are not conceiving.  Good luck

Joy and Ovaz,
I just picked some up and am glad I read your posts before actually using the cream.  I assumed that because this was sold over the counter, that it was perfectly safe?  I guess I will definitely wait to use any until consulting with my doctor.  The truth is, is that I don't know if I have low progesterone.  I'm assuming I do, because of the spotting that is occurring about 5 DPO up until AF, and frustrated because no doctor seems to be concerned, although I think this is the reason I'm not conceiving.  I will definitely hold off on using though.

That is why it says "don't take if you are pregnant".  There are no studies done with women using progesterone to prevent a miscarriage.  Progesterone is used in menopausal women.  You really should be under the supervision of a doctor if you are putting a potentially unnecessary hormone into your body.

Agree with Joy... you should NEVER start messing with anything that you will be putting into your body.  Progesterone is something that needs to be medically necessitated.  Even then, the jury is out if progesterone supplementation even does anything.  If you think your body is not producing enough progesterone, you need to speak with your doctor.  He or she will advise you on the proper steps to take.

Yay! I just went GNC and got some.  Thanks for the tip!  I was reading the package, and it said don't take if pregnant.  Does anyone know why that is?  The reason I ask is that I thought pregnant women were supposed to take this so they wouldn't miscarry?  I have a friend with really low progesterone and she had to take this for the first 3 months of pregnancy.

Your doctor should really be monitoring you if you're using that, shouldn't he? Do you have low progesterone?
