Progesterone During Pregnancy

I first found out I was pregnant on 6-22-08, which was a Sunday, from a home pregnancy test. I took another one the next morning and it said not pregnant so I went to the doctors that day and they confirmed a pregnancy. That Wednesday I had slight spotting and went to the E.R. to find out what was going on. My HCG level was only like 28. I have not seen anymore spotting since that day but my HCG level is just slowly going up and my Progesterone level was low as well. It was only like 7.91 at 5 weeks (7/01/08) and my doc. put me on progesterone tablets (100mg twice daily). Andy my progesterone level has only gone up to 11.71 in a week and a few days (7/10/08). He had me start to double my dosage of progesterone and I just had my blood drawn today (7/14/08) and will get my results back. Also when I went in on Thursday (7/10/08) the doctor used the probe and was able to see the Yolk Sac and the embryo and a possible heart beat. I am hoping all is well. I just don't know what cold be the problem.

Thanks for all of the support. I just got my test results back today from yesterday's visit and it went down almost a point. I don't get it. I am hopfully going to meet up with my doctore tomorrow and see about getting on the suppositories instead even though I just spent like $100 on the pills, but what ever it takes it will be worth it... I hope!?!

I ended up taking 200 mg of prometrium twice a day until week 14 when my body got with the program and started making enough on it's own.  Granted I was on a really high dose but it's what I needed.  So, just hang in there, your on the right path your levels are going up and that is the whole point.  It took a while for the doctor to find the right dose for me.  They don't want to give you too much so it's smart to start with a low dose and then increase it until it's doing the job.  Try not to stress because that's not good for you or the baby.  Good luck and keep us posted.

I am on progesterone too, and have heard the suppositories absorb into your uterus more quickly ... I am on 200 MG of Prometriumand it helped double my progesterone level in a week, which is said to be good. I am sure the tablets are good - but just some extra advice for you.

Good luck!

Low progesterone can cause you to miscarry, so you're doing what you need to in order to sustain the pregnancy. Even though it's slowly going up, it's going up! So far, so good!!! Good luck and please keep us posted!
