Progesterone Question

Ok, i feel kinda silly with all these questions, but here goes!  I just got first labs back and my hcg was great (24,000+) and my progesterone was 20.2.  The nurse said it was "great", but i've read it should be over 20, and mine is *barely* so.  What do you think?  Anyone have a level near 20 and take supplements?  I am having a second blood draw Monday, but i dont' think progesterone levels have been ordered, just hcg.

And yes, I should mention that I was on them until I was 11 weeks.

I was on progesterone supplements until 12, almost 13 weeks. My first blood draw, my progesterone was 14, and they said it was great, bc I was only 4 weeks. The next draw two days later, it was 11, and I was bleeding heavily. I took it orally at night before bed and eventually, I stopped bleeding around 10 weeks.

I would talk to my OB/Midwife about it if I were you.

Hmm ... I don't know about the numbers (although I should).  But you might want to get on a supplement just in case.  Especially if you've had miscarriages in the past.  Although I dno't know your history.

Our first pregnancy (after trying to conceive for a year) ended in miscarriage.  And they think it could have been due to low progesterone levels.

We tried to conceive for six more years after the mc and were not able to on our own.  So we did IVF.  And when you do IVF at our clinic, it's standard procedure to put every woman on progesterone.  We did progesterone in oil injections (my husband had to stab me in the butt every night!) and I also used progesterone suppositories.  And because ours was a frozen transfer, they also had us do estrogen injections as well.

It seemed to work, as I am now 26 weeks along and the baby is doing great!

So it may be something you want to talk with your doctor about.  I know a few women who have used the progesterone suppositories and had success with just those alone.

Best of luck to you!!
