Prometrium

Is anyone here on Prometrium now or used it in the past? I have had 6 miscarriages in the past, most recent one was twins Christmas Day. I just got a BFP Saturday night and went and had my 1st Beta drawn this morning as well as my progesterone level. Well we are expecting horrible weather, ice and up to 20 inches of snow, so my OB's office decided to close at  2:30 this afternoon and for will be closed tomorrow, possible the rest of the week. So I called and talked to the NP on call and she talked to the on call doctor and they decided to call in a script for Prometrium to be on the safe side. I have never used this before and was just wondering from experienced users. I am not sure how far along I am yet, I m/c 5w2d ago, didn't get AF and I have no idea when I O'd because I had NO signs of it. So I know I am early in the game so this is good. Hace you had good experiences with this? Any side effects? I am waiting on my test results and hopefully they will be open Wednesday so I can get the order and go in for my 2nd Beta as well.

With all of my m/c my hCG has doubled normally but once it hits 1000 it starts decreasing before hitting 2000. So this may possibly be why. I'm not a carrier for any genetic diseases, and they have all been with different partners at different times in my life so I really don't think they all have issues. So IDK. I'm grasping at straws I guess lol. I am just really hoping this is what has been wrong and my little one will be fine :)

I take mine by mouth so I have no idea on the sex. I wouldn't have sex, especially after inserting it. It will take time to dissolve.

My last miscarriage ended with my hCG doubling normally but my Progesterone dropping. I started bleeding before I got the supplements and ended up miscarrying anyway. But my last pregnancy I started taking the Progesterone right away and my beautiful baby girl is 15-months-old. This time I called but I have switched to a midwifery group and they wanted to check my levels before doing anything. Again my Progesterone dropped but my hCG was going strong. I got my supplements before any bleeding or cramping or problems so I'm hoping it's doing the trick for me this time!

Yeah they told me that if there was a genetic problem it won't prevent me from miscarrying, but if it's a healthy pregnancy it will help sustain it until the placenta kicks in. They gave me the suppository. Do you know if you're suppose to not have sex after you insert it or before? I'm cutting DH off until I know my baby is fine anyways lol but I was just wondering. They told me to use it until 13 weeks. I am staying positive this pregnancy and praying that everything will be fine. Thank you for answering!!!

I am taking Prometrium and took it my last pregnancy. If your Progesterone is low you will miscarry. Likewise if there is a genetic issue with the little embryo that would cause miscarry Prometrium won't "save" the pregnancy. But at least you'll be able to get far enough along using the Prometrium to see what is going to happen and possibly prevent a miscarriage in the event your little bean is healthy as can be!

Prometrium makes me feel really dizzy. You're not supposed to drive after taking it. It can increase vaginal discharge (which it has for me), cause sore breasts, nausea, vomiting, etc. I take one 200mg pill at night. Some doctors prescribe that you take 2 a day (which is what I did my last pregnancy).

You only take it up until about 10 weeks or so when the placenta is fully formed and begins to produce the Progesterone that the corpus luteum cyst failed to do.
