Protein in urine

Hi ladies, I'm 17 weeks and last checkup(last month) I had trace amount of protein in my urine. I know that can potentially mean preeclampsia but my blood pressure is normal. Have any of you had trace amount of protein and have it be something else besides pre-E? thanks!

Its common and normal for pregnant women to havr small trace amounts of protein in urine while pregnant.  It'd from your kidneys working very hard.

You need to be 20 weeks to develop preeclampsia, however any problems should be addressed before if develops if possible. Several things can cause protein in your urine, UTI, sex, even eating a good amount of red meat the night before can make you test positive for protein.

I have traces if protein in my urine as well and had high blood pressure. Doctor made me pee in a jug for a whole day and turn it in. turned out I had a uti. Never had one before and heard they were painful. I told doctor that I wasn't in any pain or discomfort. My doctor said because we are pregnant some symtoms won't show. So it really could. Be a uti. Don't worry to much about it. I'm 40 weeks and everything turned out fiine for me even tough I've had prdotien in my urine for weeks.

Just keep an eye for pre-E symptoms such as swelling in hands face and lefs, problems with vision, vomiting and headache.  Hope everything turns out to be ok

Yeah it's def not a UTI I've had those before. Very painful and uncomfortable! I'd think she would tell me if it was something worth being worried about I suppose. So hopefully all is fine!

More than likely a uti if they didnt mention it, they told me mine were high enough to need a prescription. Maybe call and ask? Or ask at your next appointment!

Mine has not given me any medication or even mentioned it to me. I saw the results on my online summary of my appt. so I had to make sure it didn't mean something real bad inevitably !

I've had small traces of protein in my urine the last few times I've gone in and they usually give me a medication and it goes away, my doc said not to worry about preeclampsia before 23 weeks or something along those lines.
