Question re pregnancy

I am pregnant for the first time (so needless to say everything makes me nervous). I am 7 weeks and have had some intermittent cramping for the last 2 weeks or so in my lower abdomen (uterus area), which my OB doctor said was normal. Last night I was at the grocery store and began having very sharp stabbing pains in that same area, they only last a few seconds, but I had them every few minutes. When I got home, I laid down and they went away. I had to work today and have felt them maybe twice today, but mostly just the regular cramping I was having. I havent had any bleeding nor do I hurt anywhere else. I was just wandering is this normal? Thanks in advance!

Make sure you are drinking plenty of water!  Water does wonders when pregnant.  I see too many people come in with cramping and contractions from getting UTI and not drinking enough water products.  Meaning, more water than pop/caffinated beverages.  Being dehydrated can make you contract.  Your body is going though A LOT of changes getting ready to make room for a growing baby and aches and pains are normal.  If they get where they wake you up, drink full glass of water, rest on your left side and see if it gets better.  If not, let your OB/GYN know of your concerns.  Your urine should be a clear, light colored yellow.  Babies need water.  Goodluck!

I had that too and it totally freaked me out. I am 33 weeks pregnant and still sometimes get those sharp pains and I've taken it as a reminder to slow down and rest. The cramping is very normal your uterus is growing and stretching to make room for baby. The sharp pains could be the final bits of implanting I'm not positive what it is but I know I've had that and my pregnancy is healthy and normal so far (only a few weeks to go). As long as you don't have severe pain or any bleeding I wouldn't worry too much. Just remember to drink a TON of water because that's really all that baby needs at this point besides your prenatal vitamins.

Congrats!
