Really Worried.. . .

I want to kno if my Girlfiends 20 week ultrasound was correct because it measured the baby right to her missed peiod which was 07/22/2010. . ..But at her 25 week ulrasound they measured her stomach to 23 weeks. Im so confused and dont under stand what that means. Her 20 week ultrasound was dead on and now she's measuring 2 weeks behind. Is there something wrong? Is her Due Date wrong. Im so scared. That was her first real ultrasound at 20 weeks and it was dead on. . . She had one before it but the doctor isn't useing it. At the E.R. on Oct. 28,2010 they told her she was 15 weeks but there not going off of that because they said it isnt accurate. Can you plz help me. Is my so ok or wat?

No. Nothing is off or wrong. Fundal height is extreme inaccurate and is no cause for concern. I was 33 weeks pregnant and measured at 27 weeks. Ultrasound showed my daughter to be 32 weeks 6 days. Everything sounds fine, so try not to worry. Good luck.

miller ive had 6 lids and it can change from time to time tech a woman can be preg for 42 weeks give 2 weeks either side no one can ever tell the date of conception they r rough estimates only. your baby will be growing now and measurments will change from now on some will even or may stay the same till the next measurment will be taken. take notice of your first u/s ok they are more accurate then late ones and if u r unsure see your dr or mid wife on next appt . best of luck but i wouldnt worry at all ok..

Given her last period she would be around 27 weeks. Could be a week or two off though if she concieved later and had an irregular cycle. My bet though is that the 15 weeks ultrasound was the most accurate.

She didnt fnd out untill she was 15 weeks and the emergency room said that she was Approx. 15 weeks that day. They didnt give her a due date they just said she must have concived at the end of june to the beginning of july. Which was kind of off but ok then at her 20 week ultraound she was 20 wks 1 day. . . So could the 15 week one been more accurate or its the same? (2 wks off.) Im srry for all the questions. . .

No it wasn't wrong it was just what the baby was measuring at, at that moment. It could be she is carrying a smaller baby... or maybe the baby hasn't had a major growth spurt yet and is about to. Nothing is wrong. Ultrasound later in pregnancy are just not as accurate. That's why for dating a pregnancy (figuring out the estimated due date) they usually do an ultrasound in early pregnancy (before 13 weeks). Since all babies develop at the same rate until they reach 13 weeks and then they develop at their own pace.

PS All dates (conception, due date, etc.) are ESTIMATIONS. They can be off by as much as 2 weeks. Women ovulate at different times, some embryos take a longer time to implant and some babies start to grow in the womb at their own rates which is why some babies are born 7 lbs and others 8 lbs.

If there is an issue of paternity a paternity test is the only way to know.

He's fine. Due dates can be off by a couple weeks either way. It Just depends on the baby and how fast they grow and how big the mother is. My last daughter I started measuring 3-4 weeks smaller via ultrasound than I was and still delivered an almost average sized baby at 39 weeks. Also the further along you are in pregnancy the less accurate the ultrasounds are since the baby is so balled its hard to get a good measurement. Also if something was wrong they would have told you. They don't consider something being wrong unless the baby is below 10% in measurements for its age.

Fundal height measurements can be off and most doctors are not measuring them anymore. I wouldn't worry about it.
