Severe Anxiety Disorder and pregnancy...

I have severe anxiety disorder. I am on medication for it. I think there's a chance I might be pregnant. I'm wondering if they will have to take me off my meds if I AM pregnant or if they will just prescribe a lower dosage or something else altogther?

Also, does anyone else have anxiety/panic disorder and is pregnant? Did you get taken off your meds or were they switched? Is your anxiety worse now that you're pregnant?

I'm just really scared about this. Any and all answers would be greatly appreciated!!

I refuse to go on anything.... Because of my anxiety and paranoia I dont like taking tablets. I mean for my Anorexia they put me on Anti depressants and I became additcted to Sleeping tablets and I used to take any tab I could find when I was suicidal. Due to being so ill with anorexia which has left me with Body dysmorphic disorder paranois and anxiety LOL.... But yeah I refuse to take them...Just incase it all happens again. And  ive had the worst childhood I could think of... which doesnt help LOL

LOL....
I havent started the help yet... because they have to check I have a problem and its not the pregnancy?? Stupid!

I really hope everything works out for you. I know it's not easy, But tell your doc that you are PG (When you find out) and they will tell you EVERYTHING you need to know help you need. :) Promise! :)

Just please make sure they listen to you when you have worries!

Spade: I actually have a full bottle of Visitril. O_O My psychiatrist put me on it to take "as needed" for whenever my axiety got out of control, so that's cool that I can (possibly) take that if I'm pregnant.

I am currently on 40mg of Celexa.

Cassanda: I hope they find something you can be on! I know it can't be easy not taking your meds... Ugh.

Rs33: Other than the anxiety/panic disorder I also have major depression. lol *sigh* this is why I REALLY need my meds and why I'm so nervous to (possibly) be taken off of them if it turns out that I'm pregnant.

Joy: I agree with that 100%.

The only time you should take medication is when the benefits outweigh the risks.

Hi there I just found out I am pregnant, I am 6 weeks along and have severe anxiety/panic mostly about my health which ***** haha. I have not talkin anything except for a couple things in the begining when I was diagnosed and they made my panic 10x worse so I have been off any kind of meds since. My friend was able to take zoloft for the 2nd and 3rd trimester but had to be off everything while in the 1st. I dunno abou dosage and drugs while pregnant since I am not taking anything. DO you have Health anxiety or something else? Just talk with your doctor and they can help you through the process :)

I suffer from Paranoia and anxiety they REFUSE to put me on Medication, I am going to see a specialist....

The best thing to do is to take a pregnancy test with first morning urine the day of your missed period and then go from there and the Doc will think of the best thing for you

There are a number of class c medications that can be taken during pregnancy and also a drug called vistaril which helps with panic attacks (it's a pregnancy safe version of Xanax).  Some women notice improvement in anxiety symptoms during pregnancy while others notice no change and some become more anxious - there is no way to know how you will be effected.

What are you taking right now?  Depending On drug and dosage, there may need to be some modifications but only your OBGYN can tell you that.
