Sex after Baby- help!

I had my son 3 and a half months ago and still cannot bear having sex ... It is so painful!  Is this normal?  How long did it take for sex not to hurt for you ladies?

I had the same problem and my doctor referred me to a gyno who said I had scar tissue from my tear and stitches ... I needed to massage the area twice a day and it made a world of difference ... Good luck

I'm 10 weeks post partum and it still hurts to have sex. I didn't need any stiches and had a vaginal birth. I know my ob said breastfeeding can cause dryness and create pain too

Thanks, I did have a third degree episiotomy so and it healed well according to my OB but I feel like I am having sex with a knife!  It makes me feel better that those of you who were cut experienced pain for a while too.  Anyone else have stories or advice?

Sex hurt me for a while after I had my son, I couldn't fully enjoy it until like 6 or 7 months after I had him. I did have stitches, healed up nicely nothing was wrong but it was still painful..everyone is different

Not normal.  I waited 6 weeks after my first, but only about a month after my second.  No pain.  Different factors cause different issues, though.  If you had stitches or tearing, there could be pain for a lot longer than 6 weeks.  After 3 1/2 months, though, you definitely need to talk to your OB/GYN.  Good luck.
