Should I continue progesterone suppositories?

I am 13 weeks 1 day pregnant and have been taking progesterone suppositories. I have been so excited to stop those horrible things but now I almost feel dependent on them( I know its crazy). The doctor said I could stop after completing my full 12 weeks which was 9/22. So I actually used 1 yesterday but none today. I am nervouse b/c I don't want to cause any harm by stopping them. I see the OB on Saturday for a check and to go over results of my 1st Trimester screening. What is the typical time that other women have stopped these things? Should I just go on to take them until my visit Saturday?

My doctor took me off of them at 10 weeks.  That is when the placenta starts working.  I'm 30 weeks now and so far so good!  But, you should ask your doctor when to stop taking them b/c maybe he/she has other reasons for you to take them.

I would go ahead and stop IF the Dr. has given you the okay. Those things are SO uncomfortable!! I don't blame you for being nervous (I was too when I stopped them... but was also SO thankful to be done with them... I remember counting down the days before I could be off them... then second guessing whether I should quit using them or not LOL!) I was on them with both my son and this pregnancy and stopped at 12 weeks and everything has gone smoothly. I do start 17p shots at 16 weeks (1 progesterone shot weekly), but that is supposed to ward off preterm labor since I have a history of that with both my kids and my dd was born at 30 weeks.
How are you doing by the way? Feeling okay? Congrats on reaching the 2nd trimester... thats a HUGE milestone!!!!

I stopped at 10 weeks. They're only needed until the placenta takes over production of progesterone, which occurs anywhere between 8-12 weeks. So no, you don't need it anymore.

My doctor told me that when I was on them not to stop taking them until the placenta takes over fully which is typically 10-15 weeks.  He said that it is best to stop once you hear the heart beat through a stethoscope.  Really I wouldn't stop until you see your doctor on saturday.. It should not harm the baby to take them until then.
