If your comfortable then don't worry about it.  I'll sleep on my sides most of the time.  Once I started to get bigger laying on my stomach/side as you mentioned did get a little hard (mostly because of how the baby kicks me).  I still find myself laying on my back every so often with no issues and I'm 31 weeks with my second.

They say it's bad because it could cut off oxygen to you and the baby, but you'll know if it's bad.  The baby would put pressure in areas that would cut oxygen supply.  They do say around 20-25 weeks is when you should *try* to sleep on your sides, however many women sleep on there back with no issues.

If your worried, try getting pillows and keep your self reclined a little in bed.  A lady I know said she just couldn't give up sleeping on her back and slept with pillow's behind her so she's reclined until she delivered.

I personally just sleep no matter how I end up. When you get toward the end, I don't think it matters just because at that point I'm happy to be sleeping for more than 3 hours at a time. Just find whatever is comfortable and sleep like that. :)

I usually end up like half on my stomach and my side with whichever leg is on top over my other. I can't sleep on my back to stomach as its starting to get uncomfortable, on my back my uterus is pushing down and on my stomach my body weight makes it uncomfortable. I've always slept on my side but some mornings ill wake up like half on my back and side. you could always try a body pillow or like everyone else said try and prop urself up at an angle.  If your comfy then just sleep however is comfortable as sleeping gets harder adn harder the bigger we get lol

I try to fall asleep on my side, wake up on my back, But like everyone has said if you're comfy it's fine. The last few weeks would be hard because if you think about it gravity pushes eveything down, like your boobs become arm rests LOL.... if that makes sense, so it would feel heavy. Like Zazou said.
I haven't personally experienced sleeping on my back in late pregnancy so I can't really help with that, sorry...
But like everyone is said, if you're comfy :), and your body would wake you up if something was wrong because the baby will push on everything where it can get oxygen if that ever happend..
(Thats what I read anyways).....

I loved sleeping on my tummy which was a nightmare!!!!! Since about the fifth month of the pregnancy, I had to wake up a few times due to - mainly- being uncomfortable and secondly baby was active.  The pillow between the legs helps, lying on my back became quite terrible during the last few weeks as I just couldn't breath anymore, as baby is pushing your organs and lungs up, so everything is compressed.

Do what you think is right and makes you feel most comfy.

WOW. Thanks ladies. great advice and shared experiences. glad I am not he only one with this issue.:: All the best to you and your baby to be....By the way i am only 19 weeks and five days....:) I suppose basically if you can try to lay on your sides but if you wake up on your back it is fine. I too believe it is because my body is telling me to change position...I suppose i will know more when I am further along.....Be well and all the best to you all...:)

Im 30 weeks and the doctor told me to sleep however I am comfortable. I still even kinda manage to get on my stomach a bit in the middle of the night. If something is wrong with it like it cuts off oxygen your body will automatically wake you up.

I always wake up on my back and when I do I just move over to the side, I am 33 weeks and I have no problems on my back I just try to keep on my side, I prefer my right side even though they say to sleep on your left but my dic said as long as I am comfy!
If you have a body pillow, put it between your legs and that might help with the rolling over in your sleep and keep you more comfortable,

I slept on my back my entire pregnancy.. I am just a "back sleeper." I had also heard that you should try and sleep on your side.. I tried.. I mean, I propped pillows, I did everything I could, and I ALWAYS woke up on my back. You really can't control how you sleep. I think  if you are comfortable and having a "normal & healthy" pregnancy, you should sleep however you are comfortable. =)  That's just my opinion though, I am certainly no expert.

I am geting the same thing. I read it isnt good in LATE pregnancy... atm, I am only comfortable laying on my back.

Once you get to the third trimester of pregnancy, I don't recommend lying flat on your back for any prolonged period of time. When you lie on your back, the increased weight of your uterus presses on the major vein that returns blood from your legs to your heart.

Of course, when you're sleeping you can't control what position you're in. If you wake up on your back, it's probably because your body was telling you to shift your position.

I recommend sleeping at an angle, tilted slightly to one side or the other. You can put a pillow between your legs to make that position more comfortable.
