im writing a new post bc most of my questions were answered, but i still need all the help i can get so Thank you so much for postng here...maybe you can help me with my next post! THank you :)
Try lemon tea for the nausia.. or if you dont feel like tea try smelling lemon slices.. or get a lemon scented candle. Lemon works great for morning sickness!
My doc said to look for extra hair on my belly which would mean I'm having a boy since males have testosterone.
Another thing that has helped me in several areas (including quitting smoking!) is YOGA.. I always had thought it was silly but once you try it, it's really amazing. I have a book yoga for pregnancy and it is step by step, it helps alot with the mood swings/fatigue/morning sickness/irritability... etc
Congrats on your pregnancy! I hope everything works out for you this time, I'll be praying that it does. Oh the wonderful morning sickness....All day sickness in my book! lol. I had it when I woke up and didn't go away until I was asleep at night. Mine started around 6 weeks and lasted until I was about 21 or 22 weeks. I thought it would never end. I just tried to eat smalls meals or snacks throughout the day, whatever sounded appetizing at the time. Don't let yourself get too hungry as this makes you feel worse! And drink LOTS of water. I lost a total of 7 pounds in the first couple of weeks. Didn't gain it back until the sickness had stopped. Hang in there...it won't last forever! And just like the other women said...quitting smoking is the best thing you can do for your baby. Gradually stop and everything will be okay.
I wish you the best with this pregnancy! Life is such a miracle. It's such a wonderful feeling to feel your little one move for the first time, see your belly grow, and experience all the wonderful things of pregnancy. This is the first pregnancy that has gone this far for me and I am so excited for April to get here! =) Let us know how your appt goes next week! <3
Unisom is totally safe...as is Benadryl (both are an antihistamine).......And they do suggest it for nausea quite often...I'm a RN and work 12 hour night shifts (7pm-7:30am), so when it's my first night off (I've slept that same day from like 10am-3pm) I used to take Unisom that night to help me get on a normal sleep schedule for a couple of days....I asked the Dr. at my 1st appt. if that was OK (wouldn't have been a big deal if not being I can go without sleep and function quite well), but she told me to definately take it when needed as sleep was important.....I only take it like once a week though...But she said that normally they DO suggest it for morning sickness.....
>>>>>>> i wasnt one of those women who had a "golden pregnancy"... in fact.. i looked like i had been hit by a truck from the start to end<<<<<<<
This cracked me up!!!!!!!!!!!
ok dang.. lots of questions..im sure you will have a zillion more by tomorrow to .. first of all congrats to you. i know how exciting it must be!
ok now to the questions
1.... i dont know about the MAC makeup. never even heard of it. ive never heard of any makeup being harmful during pregnancy.. if so it should say on the box
2.....i had a really strong feeling i was having a boy and so did everyone else around me.. however, i kept having dreams of pink things like baby beds and strollers... even the doctor said that the boys have the slower heart rate so if she had to guess just by that she would have said it was a boy.. i now have a 2 year old daughter... so.. to answer your question... no sorry.. i know its sucks to have to wonder for so long..
3....i too had HORRIBLE sickness... morning noon and night.. i was so sick that the doc gave me medication to stop it and all it done was put me to sleep and i was still vomiting in my sleep!! the only think that finally helped me was that i started eating one or two saltine crackers at a time, ginger cookies or ginger candy also helps for some reason although i think it was nasty, and i also stopped taking my prenatal vitamines cuz i was puking them right up.. after stopping them for about 3 days i was better... i know i know your not supposed to stop taking them but i was miserable and non of the anti nausea stuff was working. it would have been nice if they could have just sedated me for 9 months cuz i wasnt one of those women who had a "golden pregnancy"... in fact.. i looked like i had been hit by a truck from the start to end lol
4...... and as for this question... i had the sympoms and sickness to have triplets... but i only had one... so.. yes its true.. but its not always the case
5.......and finally i was a smoker when i got pregnant to and the doctor actuall told me not to quit all at once. he said that since i was smoking for the first few weeks before even knowing i was pregnant that it could put the baby into some sort of shock or withdrawl since it was used to it already. she said to instead taper off like your doing then after i was down to about 3 a day i quit... it only took me about two weeks after i found out and my baby was healthy... good luck with that.. those mood swings you mentioned in question 4 will seemlike nothing once you quite smoking lol...
best of luck to you and ill keep you in my prayers .... i hope you have a safe, healthy, puke free, happy pregnancy
I will ask my doc about Unisom, although i will admit i dont even like taking tylenol.I certainly like the idea of sleeping off this nausia, considering i am blessed enough not to have to work...i might as well take advantage and sleep....i know i wont have much time to sleep after the baby is born! Do you think that since im pretty much down to less than 5 cigs a day, if i just stopped smoking all together tomorrow lets say, will my baby have withdrawals?
im gunna try and lay down now, bc its already been an hour of hell...so no more computer tonight for me! thank you everyone again for all the posts :) see u tomm
I too was so sick during my pregnancy and nothing worked. There were days I just tried to make myself sleep all day because I wasn't throwing up while sleeping. I had a midwife through my pregnancy and she told me to take Unisom ( the sleep aid) before be just one. The nausea stopped immediatly. I would ask you doctor about that, it helped me a great deal.
Good Luck with your Pregnancy
Kelly
PS Really try to stop the smoking.
I wear makeup too and never really was too concerned about it....Our mothers and grandmothers (if they even had makeup then! LOL) used whatever they had available and we all turned out OK! That's one of the things that I wasn't a freak about...everything else I think I went overboard on though!
That's so awesome that the baby is due on your Dad's bday! It's a present from him! :o)
Twins may happen...I have none in my family nor does my husband and I was pregnant with 2!! Since I had turned 30 I said I wanted twins so we could be done with having babies being I'm old! God gave them to me the 1st time......maybe He will again! ????
Thank you for saying a little something about everything.
i tried ginger tea which helped, but sometimes i dont want hot, so im certainly looking into those lollipops....anything that can fix my nausia and sweet craving, sounds heaven sent!
Im a little relieved about the twin thing. You see, my mom predicted that i would get pregnant by jan bc my dads bday (he died 4 years ago) is in sept. Turns out my due date is his exact birthday date...she was right! shes been cursing/blessing me with twins since I was little and im kinda freaked out she might be right with that too lol silly i know.
im going to try and locate that website bc i am so curious, and I am going to look into mary kay as well. my fiance is so nervous about my make-up habits, and i just want to put him at ease about what i put on my face.
Thank you :)
Sounds like you are doing everything right! If you have more questions, JoyRenee is a very good source of info......Just thought I'd mention that being she replied to your post.....
My friends baby was born on Jan 6 and he was 9lbs, 4oz....A little chunky monkey...sooo cute and had NO problems at all....She had quit so early in her pregnancy that I don't think there was time for damamge to be done...although I know that the placenta forms pretty much right off and so the fetus can get the nicotine early on......
I seriously am at the point where I dont want to smoke unless i have a "craving for it, and even when i do, I cant smoke more than half. Its my guilt, and the fact that its not even enjoyable anymore.
I try to take the prenatals when Ive finished getting sick, or when i know its a "safe" time of day. Although I am suspicious that the pills are making me nausious too.
I def perfer liquids over food when i am sick, so i try to at leats have chicken broth, or tomatoe soup so I have some sort of vitamins and Food in my system. I have been dehydrated before, so I certainly dont want to be in the hospital with an IV again...not while going through all of this lol
How was your friend baby? was everything ok? any problems as far as lungs developement or asthma?
1). You will have to do a little research on the makeup and see which ones have FDA approved ingredients. I know Mary Kay does, which is what I use. Mac may use harsher chemicals, but I do not know!
2). I've never heard of a woman getting a moustache because she was having a boy! There is something called intelli gender which is 90% accurate. You can go to their website (I can't list it here).
3). Ginger ale can help with nausea. Also, try tea (just regular tea). They have these lolli pops for nausea too, but I don't know if they work very well.
4). Some women carrying twins do have more intense symptoms. However, women carrying one baby can have just as severe symptoms as a woman with twins.
5). Everyone else covered smoking, so yeah! Good luck on that one...
Basically, nothing is ever certain solely based on symptoms. Pregnancy is SO DIFFERENT from one woman to another.
Just try to stay hydrated...that's the most important thing...and try to keep your prenatal vitamins down......I wouldn't be too concerned about the weight loss being the 1st 10lbs was from working out....and the other 5 I would say isn't that abnormal...The same friend that I mentioned was a smoker had hyper-emesis really bad and lost 16 lbs.....She was admitted to the hospital once over night but only due to dehydration (they gave her a bag of IV fluid) and then they sent her home......
I know how hard it is to quit smoking....I smoked before I became pregnant in Oct. and quit the day that I found out I was pregnant (at only 3 1/2 weeks)....before I knew I should wean myself.....I didn't smoke much to being with though anyway.......I carried the twins until 9 weeks, so I know the quitting cold turkey wasn't the issue.....Best of luck with quitting! It'll make it so much easier if your fiance does too......And eventually the nausea may cause you to not want to at all!
i forgot one thing....im really comcerned about the nausia bc ive lost 15lbs during my pregnancy. the first 10 was before i knew I was pregnant, and i was working out 3times a weeks w/ a trainer. the other 5lbs im assuming is from the amount of vomiting thats been happening. I try and eat more to make up for it, but sometimes im so sick i dont want food near me.
Thank you for responding to my post! My fiance is also a smoker and is doing everything he can to quit as well...he even walks out the room when he smokes so i dont feel tempted to smoke, and so i dont breathe it in, so we are def trying.
Im sorry about your m/c. I dont think i was able to recover from mine until i became pregnant again. My breasts arent sore, although my nipples are...they really hurt sometimes...is that weird?
Question 4 - Oops...just reailzed this one too! I was pregnant with twins which I miscarried (D&C) in Dec. and my symptoms were no more severe than I would think others are ....sore & heavy breasts, mild nausea in the morning only......So I wouldn't say that that's the case......Plus, every pregnancy is so different that it would be hard to tell if it were multiples causing the symptoms or a singleton.......That's just my situation though...others may feel differently.
Oh yeah, congrats by the way! Lots of luck for a healthy pregnancy!
Question 5 - My friend was a 1 1/2 PPD smoker and when she became pregnant she asked her Dr. what to do about it...They told her to wean herseld off them b/c if she were to quit cold turkey, just as Mom would go thru withdrawl, so would baby, and it's not good for the baby......So she quit completely within 2 weeks......So I would have to say you're doing the right thing....most important to quit as soon as you can.
