So scared! Mucous in Stool

Hi Ladies-  Im super scared right now.  I've been experiencing mucous in my stool for about 2 months now.  I didn't realize that it could be mucous until I was reading about frequent bowel movements in the book "what to excpet when your expecting".  I didn't tell my dr. the last appointment and now I've been calling all morning, but they havn't called me back.  I'm not experiencing any cramping, but I do go to the bathroom at least 2-3 times a day and the book said if you are experiencing mucous in your stool you need immidiate intervention!  Can anyone give me some words of wisdom, I'm really scared!  I really wish I mentioned it during my last appointment.

Thanks Ladies!  I actually was sent to Labor and Delivery on that day and then I was sent for some lab work yesterday and today.  The baby seems fine and its probably just me.  I just hope its a side effect from the pregnancy, but Ill keep you guys updated.  Thanks again Ladies!

I had the same thing from month 7 on of my pregnancy.  I think the baby caused some sort of inflammation.  It is good to hear that other people have had it too because I was worried.  It went away about 4 weeks after birth.

Do you have a post nasal drip or allergies?  You can pass mucous in your stool that has traveled through your digestive track - when my daughter was sick her stools were almost nothing but mucous and doc said it was fine because all her snot was running down her throat into her stomach.

i actually had mucous in my stool pretty much throughout my pregnancy and have been fine.  i don't go a lot, maybe every other day (which is a lot for me because before pregnancy i would go once every week or two!), but sometimes there is some in there...i notice it is more so after i haven't gone in a couple of days.  i read the same thing that you read in "what to expect when you are expecting" but also read online that the mucous build up often happens during mild constipation.  since you go 2-3x a day, the situation may be a little different so definitely talk to your doctor about it.  but i think you are probably okay.  good luck to you :-)
