Son bumped his head

My son is almost 3 months old now and this morning he wiggled his way up and hit his head on one of the crib railings. We do have a mesh bumper but in the corners there is one rail left uncovered due to the design. I'm worried that he may have hurt himself and should I take him to the hospital? He's been extremely fussy today he won't let me put him down and wants to sleep all the time. The only things that seem to console him are nursing playing on his wiggle worm for a minute or two and sleeping. Please let me know if you've had experience with this and what I should do. Thank you

Thank you ladies! My mom said the same. To just watch for constant crying and overly sleepy. He's gotten better as they days gone on. No vomiting or eye dilation it's not harder than usual to wake him and he's smiling more like usual. I'm first time mom so any reassurance is welcomed. Again thanks

I really doubt that he was able to bump his head hard enough to cause damage. My 6 mos was dropped by her sister from a level approximate to that of a dining chair and she landed on her head.  While she was pretty cranky for awhile (and who wouldn't be with a headache) she was perfectly fine.  I know the signs of a concussion and watched for them, never took her to the doc.

It really boils down to what YOU are comfortable with.  If he's not vomiting, his eyes aren't dialating funny/slowly/differently from each other, he's not overly hard to rouse from sleep...then I'd say it's safe to assume he's ok.

I doubt anything is wrong. Babies are pretty resiliant and at 3 months he's not going to have a lot of force to push off with and smack his head.
