Stopped birth control, no period, 7 BFN

Hey everyone, this is my first post so please bare with me. AF last visited August 16th at the end of my BC pack, per the usual. I began the next pack a little late due to a mishap with the pharmacy. In that time, I did have unprotected sex with my fiance. I started the new pack and during that pack, my fiance and I determined it would be best to let nature take its course. Our reasoning for this is that in May, I visited an OB/GYN because my last period had been in January. Without doing any exams, blood work, or anything --- he diagnosed me with PCOS and threw me on BC.

SO, I stopped my BC on September 11th, which was only a day before my inactive pills would have began. I anticipated that I would have my withdraw bleed (even some extended bleeding from not starting the new pack), but I never had anything.  I waited a bit, and took a pregnancy test, which came back negative.  Over the course of the next couple weeks, I began to feel extremely fatigued, nauseous, and occasionally (at work) I would have heat flashes [my place of employment is always a comfortable temp].

We knew I was -supposed- to ovulate around the 27th, so as a joke I bought an ovulation test and took it on the 28th. I anticipated that it would be dead negative. However, the two lines were nearly identical. The test line was only slightly lighter. I didn't know what to make of this, but since we'd had intercourse before what I assumed had been my ovulation day, I didn't really take it to heart. On the 26th, my temperature spiked to 99.1, it was only 97.6 on the 27th.

Today, I noticed small short pains on the left side of my pelvis. After a couple seconds, they disappeared and I moved on with my day. Now, I'm noticing that I'm a tad bit crampy. I had a bowel movement (sorry, TMI) but they are persisting so I'm not sure what to make of it.

So now that I've totally bored you with the details, here are my questions;

1. What did the OPK mean? I know that it's only 'positive' if the test line is the same color or darker than the control line. But it was practically there, so does that have any significance?

2. Despite not having a September period, could I still have actually ovulated?

3. Could the cramps/slight pains I felt today have anything to do with implantation?

4. Is missing the period potentially from stopping the birth control and my body allowing itself to regulate again?

Thank you all in advance for any information and advice you're willing to offer, I really appreciate it. '
We're really hoping for this to happen for us, as the age difference will put us in an awkward time frame for kids if we wait too terribly long. [He's 26 already.]

hey there,
i just want to say i'm impressed you went from being on birth control to doing opk's and temps!
I have never done opks but from temps i would say if your temp stayed up then yes, you probably did ovulate. if you have irregular periods doing temps for a few months will help to see a pattern and even to help you spot if and when in your cycle you could be ovulating. i brought in three months to my doctor and he then did blood work on a specific day to test if i did ovulate, he thought maybe i wasn't. and i had that month so we kept trying and not getting medical help. but it may help you get an idea of whats going on with your cycle. keep in mind that it can take up to a year for a healthy couple to conceive so try not to stress out just yet okay. : )
here is the quick answers i can share to your questions.
1. opk's. from what i know you are correct you probably did ovulate when you thought you did...especially if your temp stayed high like that.
2.yes you could have still ovulated though you didn't get a cycle in september.
3. cramps could have been implantation, could have been cramps, could have been a hormones change from the pill, could have just been a slight cramp that you only noticed because you are hyper aware because you are hoping for a little one. (i know that feeling well)
4. not having a period is a possible effect from stopping the pill, could also have been stress or even possible pregnancy. could have been the pcos could have been lots of possibilities. if you don't get a bfp or a period this month i would look at my bbt chart and consider going to see the doctor.
an added bonus of doing bbt is that if you are patient enough you don't have to buy too many pregnancy test kits. just watch your temps, if they stay high over you expected period you are most likely pregnant and then can test and get the bfp. you will see your temp go down and know to expect your period. should save you from taking 7 tests. ; )
best of luck trying to conceive.

When I stopped my BC pills my periods starting going crazy, one time I would go 51 days between periods, and then ide go 15 days then 30.  My Dr told me when your not on anything its considered normal to get off track for me to track my ovulation with test each day. Ide say with the temp spike and the OPK pretty dark you provably ovulated the 26 and 27.  I had a dark test one day and the next day an even darker obe then the next day it started lightening up..  There are also several things tou can do to help get regulated and help conceive.

Well to me it sounds like you are but when had the shot once and didn't have a period for 5 months and some how i'm now expecting. I'm 21weeks along and haven't even had any spotting in almost 10 months. So you can get pregnant without any bleeding before hand. Good luck! Also fyi sometimes you don't make enough hcg to test early. With first one I took a test at 1month and it came back no then at almost 4 months it bearly said yes they thought I was only 2weeks cause it was so low. This time at a week I had a blood test being told it was alomost false proof and it came back saying I was not. So take care just incase
