Stressed and overwhelmed

I am 31 weeks and 6 days pregnant and i will be 19 on the 24th. I live in illinois and here once you turn 19 you lose medical benefits and because im pregnant i reapplied this month, i filled out all the paper work and gave them compies of my photo ID, birth certificate and proof of pregnancy and because i am unemployed and dont have any income they said i didnt have to worry about adding proof of that so i didnt but i filled out all the paperwork and handed it all over to them on the 9th of May and it was due on the 14th of May, well on Saturday i got a letter from the DHS office that said I have been denied medical benefits, as of June 1st i will no longer have medical benefits because i do not have any children..

I just dont know what to do anymore, i thought they couldnt deny me because i am pregnant. I am due July 16th and i am just so stressed out, im really afraid that i wont get my medical card back and my baby wont get the care he needs, im just so scared and stressed.
Sorry this was so long just needed to vent i guess..

Yeah hun like the others have said it sounds like an error. Just do what you have planned and call first thing tomorrow. And don't be afraid to stand up for yourself, a lot of times government agencies will try to screw over young single moms who don't know enough to point out when the agencys screw up. lol

I dont know where dupage county is but i live in Massac county. I am currently on WIC and got my medical card thru DHS office. I am going to call them first thing in the morning and see exactly why i was denied, but according to the letter its because i dont have any kids.

when I applied for masshealth, I was about 6 months pregnant. they denied me saying I wasn't pregnant nor had any children. I ended up calling the next business day and ( I was kind of a bit rude lol ) explained how I was pregnant and I had no insurance and needed it for when my baby was born. they said they'd update the system and to call back in 2 weeks. before the two weeks came I got a letter in the mail saying I was approved and got my card !
Give them a call , and don't give up

Where I live, being pregnant you just count as 2 people, are you married? If not, you should be eligible, you are unemployed and are pregnant, so you'd be counting as a 2 person household, and not having an income should definitely make you eligible! Good luck hun, if you'd rather, call someone, and explain to them and ask about it, and don't let up until they help! You have a little while til you deliver, so you should be okay!

Call them on Monday and see why you were denied. All pregnant women should qualify for Medicaid if they are not otherwise insured. It could just be a technical thing in their system that booted you out.

They may have sent that before processing the paperwork. Sign the paper to appeal and you'll get a call real quick to fix the matter. I had to appeal twice and they fixed it immediately
