Stretched for good?? TMI*

Hey ladies,
I had my son on 7/1. He was pretty big and against my wishes they did an episiotomy and used the vacuum. In addition I had 2 internal tears.
It's been over 5 weeks and my area is so stretched still. I can see all the way in. Before it was sealed good. Now It makes noise when I walk and water and air gets in. Is it too soon to know if this is permanent or does it have more time to shrink. This is my first and I'm a little freaked. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

Thanks!!

Im sure you'll get back into "shape" there! ITs possible and very doable.... plz do your kegels! Ive been doing them daily and my daughter is two yrs old.... It is different, not in a bad sort of way, but obviously after popping out a baby, dont expect to have it identical to how everything was b4 birth...... For me i think everything is better post baby.

That's the best thing to do girl...don't worry no matter what you WILL get your original shape back, it just may take a bit of "fixin' "...but it's not hopeless, so don't get upset about it and try to just relax and see what the second opinion doctor says...best of luck hon, hope to hear a positive update soon!

Yeah I should get a second opinion because he will probably just defend himself and say it was necessary and all is "ok". I think I will call my sisters OB and see what they say about it. Ugh.
Thanks ladies, I'll kee you posted!

Oh boy. I just took a closer look and it seems as though he did not finish sewing the perineum to the top. Almost like a jacket with a zipper. Instead of the zipper going to the top, it's about 3/4  of the way "zipped".  I think this is why the enterance way is so wide open. This literally has me freaking out. I am so scared because I know this has to be repaired but I am afraid of the pain after that..what if it's worse than the pain I have now? I am so distraught over my whole experience. I took a walk yesterday because I thought I was feeling better...and it brought back all the pain again. I think because of the air going in and out with each step I took. I feel so mutilated...and completely infuriated that this was done without my consent. I haven't been able to bond much with the baby because I've been so miserable.

I am definitely going to call the office about this because even though next week is 6 weeks...my 6 week appointment is not until the 22nd because the *SShole doctor that cut me is going to be enjoying his vacation. I wish I could slam his man-package in a window.

Thank you all for your comments and help. Thank you Ashelen for being there so much for me too <3

I had one and for a couple weeks after delivery I swear it wasnt the same. I woukd take a bath and water would get caught in me and leak out when I got out. Not like a lot but maybe a tablespoon of water. I never actually looked at it but I had about 10-15 stitches. Ugh. It took a couple months but everything went back to normal and now there is no difference to it from before I got pregnant. If you are in any way concerned thougn contact your doctor.

I had an episiotomy 8 years ago, but remember it like yesterday. Once the vaginal swelling went down for me, I had no issues. My vaginal opening was back to normal in a few days.

It doesn't sound quite right to me either, to be honest. Unless he seriously screwed up the episiotomy (which, like I said in the post on the July forum it sounds possible that he did) you shouldn't have such an issue with the opening not closing....so my advice would be to get a consult with another OBGYN. if he DID mess up, you've probably got some legal rights and he'll have to cover the costs of any physical therapy or surgery to put it back to normal. the good news is if there IS a problem, it's completely fixable. and if there's not a problem it should go back to normal in a few weeks......my episiotomy and tear never affected the size of my vaginal opening negatively (I already explained the whole meshing thing to you lol), despite how bad my tear was, so I really can't say that I had personal experience with whether it goes back or not.

So sorry hon like I said I HATE that you had such an awful experience <3.

When is your drs appt? It doesn't sound right.... You shouldn't be able to fill up with water.... You should phone your dr to ask about this... Have you talked to other women who have had an episiotomy to see if it's happend to any one else

Because I'm afraid to swim in because water will fill up in my entire V :(
I ready normally it is water-tight so no water is supposed to be able to get up there.

Ok I'll definitely do them more. I get lazy with them. Do they actually make the "opening"smaller too?

I was just going to add in that you should keep up with kegel exercises in order to get your muscles back tight and in good working order.

I had an episiotomy with my DD 9 yrs ago. It was a full cut and htey used forceps. I didn't really look at it for a while but it is fine now. When you have your 6 wk checkup, ask those questions. They'll be able to tell if something is wrong.
