TIA during pregnancy

I had a small (lasting no longer than 15 minutes) episode yesterday where I lost peripheral vision and saw fuzzy, colorful "twinkly" stuff above and to the side of my eyesight. I could see things when I looked at them straight ahead, but that's about it.

My friend, whose husband is a retired doctor said I should go to the hospital, which I made an appt with my doctor today. She asked another friend (who is an ophthalmologist) about it, and he said it sounded like I had a TIA.
I didn't take their advice and go to the ER last night, as I was exhausted from a stressful weekend out of town. I knew the ER on a Sunday night would NOT let me get the rest I desperately needed.

Anyway, I'm just curious about TIA's during pregnancy. Anyone ever had one? How serious are they? Does this mean I'm going to have a major stroke or an aneurysm in the next few hours or days? Everyone has got me so freaked out that my blood pressure is probably high...which is what they keep telling me I need to have checked. Well, of COURSE it's going to be high at this point! I keep thinking something bad is going to happen to me!

My blood pressure was probably up and down a LOT this weekend...like I said, it was stressful. But is it possible that the baby was just laying against a nerve or something, and THAT is what caused the vision loss?

Any other ideas? My dr's appt isn't until 1:30 (the earliest they could work me in) so I'm a nervous wreck until then.

I'm glad it wasn't a stroke too.  Try to relax  as much as possible and not stress.  Sometimes migraines come on after a period of stress has passed by and you are just beginning to relax.  If I could wave a magic wand so that all the stress in the world would disappear I would but they haven't invented functioning wands yet. After spending almost 6 hours at two different doctors offices yesterday, they finally ruled out a mini stroke (TIA). I am told that I simply had a migraine, even though I didn't have a "severe" headache to go with the loss of eyesight. Apparently, migraines come in different forms, which I had no idea. I did have a dull headache afterwards for a few hours, but had no clue that it was a migraine.

Either way, I'm just glad it wasn't a stroke of some sort. Too scary!
