TTC and Yeast Infection

Hello ladies,

I need your help. Hope someone can give me some support and advice.Ii am 29 years old. I have been trying to conceive since June 2010 but we really cant make it. I have been having an infection (funghus) almost every month. I really  cant control it.

When I take a bath, I rinse my hair in the water I am in. I don’t drink a lot of water and when I wipe, I wipe very well. Doctor said that its important not to use any soap with the vagina and not even water.. just little water because that can make me very dry.

Infact during intercourse, I become very dry and sometimes saliva helps not to be more dry.  What do you suggest me to do? What can I do to conceive as early as possible ?

I try to relax (evening primrose helps). I take B6 vitamins but I still don’t know what is the problem.

Any help please? I really want to have a relaxed Christmas!!!

Yes, the progesterone test will tell you if you ovulated, but by the time you get that done and have results, it's too late to concieve for that month! Once your egg is released, you only have 24-48 (well, maybe up to 72) hours until your egg is no longer viable. Typically, that progesterone test is done on day 21 and is about a week after you ovulated (for most people). The kits will tell you that you are about to ovulate in the next day or so and then you can time intercourse more accurately.

Has your hubby had a semen analysis done? You can have beautiful eggs released at a great time, but if he is shooting blanks, your efforts are in vain. maybe give it another few months and if no luck, I would start looking into his side of the equation.

They say most people get pregnant within a year of trying, but I know how fustrating that year can be (or in my case, two years). Keep praying and try to relax (yeah right) and know that it will happen in good time. :)

They do get expensive and you can't test on just one day or you will likely miss ovulation. I started testing on day 10 and tested until I got a +. If you never get a +, then you might not be ovulating and that can be treated fairly easy. I got my ovulation kits from the $ store so they only cost $1 per kit. That was only like $10-20 per month (sometimes I tested twice per day). And $10 is like the cost of diapers for a week or less. Once I stopped using the kits because I was preggo, I started buying diapers and wipes. I now have enough wipes to last me about 7 months and enough diapers to last about 5 months (among other baby items like shampoo, cloths, clothes, lotion and so on). Consider it a small step towards managing the cost of a baby. The kits are certainly worth it and more reliable for me than temps or cervial mucas (like you, I don't always get some). And the tests showed me that I ovulate a bit later than the average person, so it was well worth the money spent! :)

yes i have ttc for 6 months already now. i have been to 2gps and 3 gynaes. i've tried some ovulation kit tests but they're expensive.  and one is fertile even before ovulation - the kit only tests the ovulation day.  i try to check my mucus and when it is clear and stretchy, i know that i am ovulating. but sometime i do not notice the stretchy mucus and would not know if i am ovulating or not.

i'll just keep on trying... i  also stopped drinking wine (used to have just 2 glasses a week), try to exercise, and eat lots of veg and fruits.

thanks for your advice
hope that in the coming month we will conceive!!!

My dr did some blood and sugar tests to see where I stood hormonally. Most of them came back normal. Ultrasound did show polycystic ovaries (and one that had burst, causing deep pain). After that, the only "fertility" test I did was the HSG test where they run dye through your tubes. I had that done after an ectopic pregnancy.

Who is doing your tests? It looks like you have been ttc for about 6 months. For many, that is not tooooo aweful long. The chance of conception is fairly low for very healthy couples each month - but I totally understand your fustration. Have you tried tracking your temps, cervical mucas, and perhaps the most important tool of ovulation predictor kits? The kits are very useful, but can become expensive over time (I figured that I should just get used to the expense of kids and opk's are MUCH cheaper than kids). Also, finding a good ob or specialist is invaluable. The best in town is not as important as a dr that you mesh well with and understands your individual situation.

Yes I agree with what you are saying. In fact I will work hard on trying to avoid baths and soap.  I will start using preseed.  I started treating the yeast infection after the ovulation period.

Did you ever experience low abdominal pain and sometimes low back pain? I have done so many tests:  ultrasounds, food allergy prints, smear tests, high vaginal swabs tests ecc to see from where this pain is coming from. Doctors concluded that it might be a very low grade infection (very common in women); Irritable bowel; or maybe because I am a bit allergic to cow’s milk and the fact that I eat sweets and dairy products won’t help.  I just hope its not something related to endometriosis.

Are you familiar with some fertility tests to see how fertile I am or if I am fertile or not?
i also remember that during ovulation period i was taking panadols and benylyn syrup to fight the flu. does this affect conception?

Also, try to avoid baths and go straight for the shower only. I get a yeast infection nearly every time I use a bath. I am just so sensitive down there. The only thing I use in that area is water and dial soap when showering. I too would feel itchy and burning durring the ttc times of the month and my dr said NOT to treat it. Let it be and after the ovulation time window is closed, then start using vagisil wipes EXTERNALLY. If I did have an infection, it would be treated after finding out if that cycle worked or not.

Like the others mentioned, try using preseed during intercourse if you are feeling dry. I've heard that saliva can harm sperm (some say it doesn't). The first month I stopped using saliva and went to preseed, I did concieve. Good Luck!

For the dryness during sex i would try pre seed lube it's sperm friendly you can get it from Pre seeds website or CvS in the section by condoms and lubes. I also would suggest using ovulation predictor kits to determine when you are ovulating and lastly have sex every other day not every day that way the swimmers have time to repopulate before going at it again. Good luck
