Does anyone have a recommendation for a good thermometer? Aubryana is too little for any kind of temp besides rectal. I've bought several different types and they either don't work to begin with or they stop working after only a few uses. Today she woke up feeling like she had a fever, and I don't like giving tylenol without a decent fever...got out the thermometer, and I usually check twice just to make sure becuase of the many thermometers I've been through, and I got two way off readings, then checked one more time and another way off one...so three different temps with at least a .8 degree difference. So any suggestions?
I've thought about it, but they did one like that on Elijah once, said his temp was 98.6...I told the dr there's no way and they did a rectal, it was 103 something. With the peds around here they don't do rectal temps UNLESS you take them to the ER, BUT they don't want to see the kid UNLESS you have taken a rectal temp and it's been over 101 for 24 hours???? Um...why do *I* have to shove a thermometer up there just to come in and have you stick it under her arm? They NEVER show a fever when they put it under her arm...and I do mean NEVER. That's why I ALWAYS use rectal, except on Elijah since he's three now, but for under one I always do rectal.
Idk then. Hmmmm I have never done it rectal on either of my kiddos. They don't even do that in the er here they just put a strip under the arm at the childrens hospital. I have had bad luck with thermomators too there really arent any great regular ones out there! So annoying
I'll have to look up what brand mine is love it. It's digital and has probes for rectal, under arm (which I always use for my 8mth old) and oral and it has written on the base what the normal temp ranges are
