Trying for Kids ---Irregular Periods

Hi,

My periods are irregular.  we have been trying for kids from last couple of months. No success.

cycle lengths and Period dates from last couple of months are as follows:
September 28th 2007

My last two cycles were very long. So had been to doctor last month and got blood work and ultra sound done.
Ovaries, Uterus normal. All the blook work normal except little bit inverted LH and FSH. He did not put me on any medication.
He asked me to continue with OPK tests and find out whether I am ovulating or not.

1.  Tried using OPK tests. Starting testing this month again from cycle day 10( 20th august 2008) at 7:30 PM everyday.
Today is  02 sept 2008 (cycle day 23). Still there was no second line (test line) at all all i could see light control line all these days.

Are the strips not effective? or Am i not ovulting at all?
Is 7:30 PM the right time to take OPK test? or do i need to test twice a day?

2. Tried taking temperatures everyday in the morning 5:00 PM. But i could not find out from those reading.They are stable for while, then they keep going up and down.

3. Tried checking Cervical mucus. sometime i feel stretchy. But i dont know whether ovulating or not as BBT/OPK shows negative.

What might be going wrong with my cycles??
Can you please suggest what do i need to do?  
We are seriously trying for kids. My age is 29

Hi Ur defo nt alone with this I may be one of the lucky ones as doctor has told me but please Dnt give up ....
I had very irregular periods since age of 20 i would maybe get one every 3 to 6 months never had one for a whole year last year .. this year had one Jan  and Feb normal till may then nothing ..... no period for 3 months.
And found out I was pregnant Sep .. am now 13 weeks supposly doctors think I was still ovulating every month but no periods (dream 4 most woman) but worrying I had all sorts of blood test scan internals and nothing.
I think the more u think about it the more u stress and make it worse ... relax don't think about it (hard I know .. an I do know .. I gt told I wouldn't be able to conceive) and don't make sex a chore try and relax best method with .no stress good luck Xx

For those who have irregular cycles and no other known reasons for not conceiving,isnt the best sollution to have intercourse every day.

I really just dont get the whole charting and figuring out the ovulation day and calling home hubby for ovulation day sex or fertile days sex.

Am i insensitive to this issue ?

My cycles have been clock work 28 day cycles,
I have two daughters 5 and 3 and have just come off the pill again after 3 yrs.

My cycle has now since moved to 38 day cycles ( do not know why ? )
I have no idea, how to work out when i ovulate.

I'm planning on just having intercourse every day until I fall pregnant
intercourse, breakfast, vitamins, excersise.
(although this may not be everyones morning routine !! )

Hi , i was reading up on your story and your not alone!  the sad thing is i am 41 yrs old and my clock is ticking away. I have been trying since i  was 21 but nothing!  Lost a husband on that a count! Remarried and wanted to try again. so far no luck!  I have gone to about 8drs. and 2specialiest and the only thing they come up with is you have irregular pds!. Something ill have to live with!  I choose not too but i think God see otherwise! I hope the best for you maybe it would be a good idea to see some new. you never know and your not hurting anyones feels. It will also make your mind rest because can say you
done your best! Good luck and don't give up Faith!

Wow... your period is very irregular. I'm surprised the doctor didn't give you some kind of medication for that. Should you consult another doctor? I suggest to continue using the OPK tests or monitor like I do. In my experience, they're accurate. I always get a positive and then my temp will go up a couple days later, so I trust them. You should use a basal thermometer, I got one from early pregnant test website. The mercury-free cost about $15. I have no trouble using it. Regard cervical mucous, you should look for clear watery discharge, usually after the sticky mucous for me. Good luck!
