Trying to conceive but Dr. no help

I am 26 and trying to get pregnant. I was on the pill for 8 yrs but have been off for a year a a half. My period has been regular but still no babies. I missed my period in Jan. but got it in Feb. It was very light for 3 days heavy 2.  My Dr. has not been any help as to why I haven't been able to conceive. All she could tell me was ovulation triggers bleeding not the other way around!! I'm looking for all the  help I can get. Any suggestions.

I think it is time for testing. I developed PCOS after my youngest daughter was born and it caused me to not ovulate. I'm finally pregnant again after almost 1 1/2 years. So definitely recommend getting a referral.

I'm no expert, but don't some people use basal temperatures to track ovulation?  I think you take the temperature in the morning, and it gets elevated with ovulation or something like that.  Don't quote me, but it might be worth a google.

Maybe you should think about seeing another doctor, just to get anther outlook.  Even if it's the same answer, maybe they'll seem more interested or something and be able to help you in the future.  Good luck!

I use the CM (cervical mucous) method of determining ovulation. Hmm- if you've been trying for over a year I think it is definitely time for your doctor to refer you to an RE (reproductive endocrinologist).

I have been going off of an ovulation calendar and just being aware of my fertile mucus like the Doc told me.

What other ways should I be using?
If I ovulate and conceive the same time, will I still get my period? I know it is different for everyone.

Thank you for your help. :)

Well she is right in that ovulation is what determines when your next period will come, not the other way around as most people believe. Not everyone ovulates 2 weeks after their period unless they have a very typical 28 day cycle.

What methods are you using to determine ovulation?
