That s*cks! :) I get horrible heartburn but zantac, and all that works fine for me. The antacids don't do so well, and if I take Prilosec 1 pill will work for 2-3 days for me. And The other member was right, baking soda is a great thing to use too. When my son got so sick in NICU and his actual blood got too acidic they gave him "sodium bicarb" or Baking soda. I thought it was so strange at the time because it's a household thing, but it's a common simple remedy for stuff like that and bad heartburn.
Yea, hopefully it will work!! If not, maybe you can be prescribed something. That was going to be my next step.
My dr prescribed me prilosec OTC cause nothing would help, talk to your dr about your options. I hope you can find some relief, I know how bad hb s u c k s!
Wow baking soda eh?
I'll have to give that a try!
i was on generic pepcid (famotadine) both of my pregnancies. it was a lifesaver. My OB is super-cautious about meds but allowed this. He never let me have any meds that so many others take. Also, DH is a pharmacist and he OK'd it too.
I totally understand how you feeling! I had horrible heart burn/acid reflux and towards the end of my pregnancies, it would always get worse. Like you said, drinking water would trigger it. You can try tums...but that only gave me temporary relief. Zantac never worked. Baking soda was a life saver for me!! I wish I had remembered it earlier on. I would either just take a couple of pinches of it and eat it or you can mix a few pinches in some water and drink it. It worked almost instantly for me and gave me relief all night long. The acid reflux would actually wake me in the night, but the baking soda worked wonders. I was thankful to just have relief and be able to sleep through the night and not feel miserable during the day.
