Ultrasound confusion

Ugh I'm so upset! I'm 18 weeks 5 days and I had an appointment today hoping to get my gender ultrasound and my Dr. informed me since I have Medicare they only pay for 2 ultrasounds. I had one at 6 weeks and one at 11 weeks. Now they're saying I have to pay for my next ultrasound which is $250!!! I cannot afford to pay $250 but I want to see my baby and know the sex sooo bad! What do you ladies think??

I'd deff find out why he did them so close together, my dr have me one at 18 weeks and another at 22 weeks because baby girl wouldn't cooperate and show them everything they needed to do measurements. And I'll get another one sometime closer to 40 weeks to see how big baby is.

I would figure out why you got two so close together I got one at 9 weeks to confirm due date and won't have one again I assume until 20 weeks for anatomy and sex. Where I live all ultrasounds are done at the hospital because our obgyn does not have am actual ultrasound machine in her office. She just has a small portable one

I have Aetna (sp?). I also pay $150 a month of Lovenox (daily shot to help with blood clots during pregnancy). I also pay $40 an appointment, which is twice a month because I am high risk. Plus, I pay extra for "hospital visits," which can even be a doctor at the hospital looking at an ultrasound my OBGYN sent over.
I am not complaining but I am not rich by any means. In fact, I quit my job. (Recommended by doctor).
Anyways, I'd kill to have some free healthcare. Ahhhh.

Going to the hospital for that is a bad idea. They don't have to reveal or even show you the ultrasound in the hospital. Not to mention the risk of picking up somethin in the hospital isn't worth it.

OMG thats crazy. If u cant get one I would go to the hospital and complain about something it might take a while for an ultrasound but you will get one. I recently fell on the ground and had to go to the hospital and they gave me a ultrasound. The tech even said most definetely a boy. So if all else fails try that

ya my thought is to go just do a 3d/4d one for fun as its much cheaper just to find out sex. Although I had 5 by the time I was 17 weeks.... At 7 weeks because of severe cramping, 8 weeks for first appt, 2 at 12 weeks cuz my dr likes to do one for fun and also for the nt scan and then 17 weeks because of the anatomy scan and to tell gender.

Kidashcart, thats crazy! My last pregnancy I paid around $300/mo for insurance through my work and they covered all prenatal testing,u/s, appointments 100% after pregnancy verification.
And you only paid 20% for delivery related hospital fees.  Who is your provider???

Go to a 3d/4d ultrasound place for a gender peek. It's usually between $50 and $100 for that. much cheaper than $250!!

Maybe you can get an ultrasound elsewhere...I know they even do them sometimes in malls, and I think it's cheaper, like around the $150 range or less.

I pay over $200 a month for insurance. I got my 20 week ultrasound and just got the bill. It was $548, seeing it was done at the hospital and I need to pay my outpatient deductible. How about that?

I dont understand why they did one at 11 weeks. Most doctors do one early in pregnancy then another at 20 weeks. I would talk to your doc and see why he thought it was nessasary to have two done so early.

Medicade only pays for two, that is correct.  But if more are medically necessary they pay for those too.  So if he's done the dating (early in pregnancy), and anatomy (usually around 20wks, why they did another on you at 11wks confuses me), then another isn't necessary.
