Update

Well, I had my ultrasound today.  Looks like the doctor was right about my cervix being distended...but it's because I have a 2inch cyst on my left ovary!  I'm not too worried about it...I know those are pretty common in pregnancy.  (RIGHT?)  However, they did NOT see a sac or anything.  Based on LMP it said I was 5w3d.  I know I ovulated 7 days later than "normal" so I'm guessing I'm only 4w3d.  Does that sound right?  Is it OK not to see anything at this point??  The tech said the Hcg needed to be 1700 in order to see anything...they couldn't find my results (I don't think the hospital sent them over yet) so they didn't have anything to compare.  The tech said my uterus lining is thick and blood rich (indicating early pregnancy...but that does NOT rule out ectopic) and she also said I have a small corpus luteum cyst which also indicates early pregnancy.  She could NOT date my pregnancy without a sac so the only thing I really came away with today is knowing I have a cyst.

The doctor ordered another beta for tomorrow so we can compare #s.  SOMEONE is supposed to call me tonight when they get my first beta # in.  I also have another ultrasound scheduled for a week from today.  Here's hoping there is a sac IN THE UTERUS next week!!!!  I am in slightly better spirits now...not quite AS worried...although it would have been great to see SOMETHING today.  She did both abdominal and transvaginal scans.

That's about it!  :)

Everything sounds great!!!

My cyst is probably just the corpus luteum because it was the only one we saw. It was giving me some discomfort but it must have shrunk because I'm not having ANY discomfort at all anymore.

Getting an ultrasound later is a GREAT idea. You usually can't see anything until your HCG is higher.

My doctor asked the hospital to page him when they got my number and he called me tonight to let me know...Wow...it jumped from 403 to 1037 in exactly 48 hours!  Woo hoo!!  I canceled my ultrasound for next week and am going to keep my appointment on April 8th.  The further along I am, the more likely I'll see something and not have to go through the 'uh oh' stuff.  :)  Plus DH can go with me on the 8th so that'll be even better.  I'm relieved and just hoping the baby (or babies!) are in the uterus  and growing like crazy!  I'm ANXIOUS to find out my exact due date according to the ultrasound, but I can wait until the 8th.  The doctor said to come in sooner if I start having any symptoms of the cyst (rupturing, I guess?)  Hopefully it'll take care of itself!  I'm so excited!!!

That's a normal level for 4 weeks. I think mine at 4 weeks 2 days was only 80. So it sounds like you'll have to hang in there a little longer before you see anything on the ultrasound.

Got my beta number from Wednesday!  It was at 403.  I think that's pretty normal for 4-5 weeks gestation, right?  I go back today for my 2nd beta so we'll have something to compare it to.  Unfortunately being a Friday I won't know the results until Monday.  :(  Boo!  Let's hope it's RISING!!!!

Amy,
Have you heard anything today about your HCG levels? You're in my thoughts!

I had a very early ultrasound at 7 weeks 4 days and they said she was the size of a gummy bear and we were very lucky to hear her heartbeat.  The midwife and OB on call both said it was rare to see and/or hear anything so early.  So I'm guessing if you're only somewhere in the 4th week it's way too early.  If you think about it, week 1 is AF - week 2 is ovulation, so your LO has really only been in there for 2 weeks.  Have you heard anything from your doc yet?

Most cycts do rupture on their own, it dosen't feel that good, but that's kinda what you hope for! With my last pregnancy I had one that didn't rupture on it's own, and during my pregnancy in consumed my right overy cutting off blood flow killing it, this is why they hope they will rupture! I had a c-section so they were able to take care of everything at the same time. But I did lose my tube and overy on that side, BUT it didn't stop me, I'm having my third baby now! :)

Mine was 13cm. This pregnancy knock on wood I'm cyst free! lol but it is VERY commmen for women in early pregnancy to have them! No worries! Good luck today with your beta numbers! And congrats on your pregnancy!

Joy - The corpus luteum cyst was not the same as the 2in cyst they saw.  She said the corpus luteum cyst was really small.  What ever happened with your cyst on your left ovary?

At 4wks with my #2 pregnancy NOTHING was seen what so ever. I'm sure you will go back in 2wks and there will be a baby with a heart beat. Congrats and good luck.

So is the 2-inch cyst the same as the corpus luteum cyst? Or are they two different cysts? I also had a large cyst (4cm) at my ultrasound that was on my left ovary. Most likely the corpus luteum. Which IS normal.

It is also definitely normal to be too early to see anything at this point. Get another sonogram in 2 weeks!!!

Its very normal, and im thinking your only about 4w3d if you ovulated a week later so you most defin. would not see anything.  Keep us posted on what happens next week.

It's very normal not to see anything at that point. When I got my 1st u/s I was dated at 8w4d and all we saw was a little tiny peanut with a heart beat and the yok sack ( I assume it was the yok sack anyways! lol ) So no worries! Wish you the best! :)

It's very normal not to see anything this early on. Some women don't see anything until closer to 7 weeks. As long as your numbers keep doubling, that's a good sign. Keep us posted!
