Vent about gender neutral baby clothes....

With DS, we didn't want to know the gender of our baby, so we purchased things that were unisex and waited it out.  It wasn't a problem.

This time, we tried to find out and the baby didn't cooperate.  I don't know what it is, if it's because it's 3 years later or because we actually tried to find out this time, but I was doing some baby shopping last night - even though we have a lot of things, there are still some smaller items that we need, plus we want for this baby to have some of his/her own things - and I found it SO HARD to find good unisex sleepers, etc.!  All of the cutest stuff was either blatantly female or male.

As excited as I am to have another surprise, I found this annoying and frustrating.  Can anyone else - who either didn't want to know the gender of their baby at all or, like me, tried to find out and couldn't - relate?

I agree with the other posters on Kohls. They do have some very cute outfits that can be considered gender neutral.

I commend you for sticking to your guns and deciding to not find out the gender, despite pressure from family.  It should be about what you (and your partner) want....I have a friend who didn't find out the gender with her first and did this time because her mom was pressuring her so much to find out so she'd know if she could shop for a girl this time - they had a boy last time.  Anyway....she ended up finding out she's having another boy - go figure!!

Good idea - I'll see if I can order online from Kohls.....a lot of US stores don't ship to Canada, though (a big beef of mine).  Fingers crossed that Kohls does! :-)

I am not finding out the sex of my baby either, but havent tried to really find anything just yet (im only 10 weeks) I hope I do not run into the same problem! My family is already giving me a hard time wanting to know because they want to shop for either a boy or a girl. I am with AuroraSage on this, pink and blue are overrated for me. I cannot wait to begin picking out all the baby things though, let me know if you find a solution, or a store/website that is gender neutral!

I dont really like gender neutral clothes just because it seems that most of them are sleepers.  Could you order online from Kohls?  A lot of websites when you look at baby clothes have the option of boy girl or neutral you could try that.

Well....I wouldn't go so far as to say that gender neutral clothes are ugly....they're just not as cute, it seems.  I did find some adorable white winter sleepers, but they were all too big - by the time Baby can wear them, we'll be into spring/summer!

Part of my problem, I think, was that I was at Toys R Us - I think I need to go somewhere less mainstream. Like I said, we do have plenty of unisex stuff since we didn't know the gender with DS either - but that was by choice.  I still have to go through everything and see exactly what I've got....but I still want some new things for this one.

By the way.....I LOVE Kohls....but I'm in Canada, and we don't have them here.  I spent so much there last year when we were vacationing in MA!

I was in Kohls (Im not sure if you have one in your area) but they had some cute light green and yellow sleepers and outfits that would get you through until you find out when the baby is born...

I cant wait to see what you are having... Rooting for one more than the other???

God Bless and I really hope you can find some cute unisex stuff!

What?!

Man oh man.. do a search on Etsy if you have to.. I'm splurging on a 5 pack of tie-dyed onesies in all colours of the rainbow!

I'm definitely not a "girly-girl" and don't believe in the whole boy=blue & girl=pink theme anyhow..

I've been finding some great things in greens, browns, purples, orange... lots of black and white too..
Maybe just steer clear of the big chain stores ?

I think gender neutral clothes are pretty ugly myself. Do you think you could live with one package of 0-3 month neutral stuff and then save up to go shopping right after they're born to buy gender appropriate clothing?
