It also helped with my son because I had group b strep and was 8 when I wad checked and moving fast so there wasn't enough time for me to get the full benefits of antibiotics so the water birth was actually better for him because it helped to rinse him of the strep as he was born. He did not get sick at all from the strep even without the antibiotics.
I had a water birth two weeks ago (my first child) and it was absolutely amazing. No tears either. I just had gas and the hot water in the tub, which really helped (and let me just say, my pain tolerance is really low, I'll cry at a splinter!). It also helped me to relax and dialte faster, so it was a quick 3 hour labour. What helped was standing in the shower while you are in early labour or waiting for the tub to be filled up, as I believe gravity from standing really helped progress my labour. I would recommend a water birth to anyone, it was such an amazing experience, being able to pull my baby out from under the water and relax with her. Good luck with your decision and congrats on your pregnancy!
Really So I guess it has more benefits than I thought. Its nice to hear the little things that it helps with cuz you dont really see those in the ads. I appreciate it. Thank you. Did you notice anything else different between your bed delivery and a water birth. Thank you for any other advise you can give.
Ya that lady sounds like she was going to tear no matter what birth plan she chose. I didn't tear at all and actually didn't even have burning when I peed after like I had with my 1st delivery done in a hospital bed. It was amazing!
you cant have drugs if you want a water birth anyway, the only thing they will allow is gas, so if your intent on having one, it will basically be drug free even if you do decide on the gas :) If you go with the pain of the contractions and welcome them, then your body produces endorphins that act as a natural pain relief :)
Thank you very much Stacey10. I appreciate that. I was so nervous, and I just wanted to make sure it would be okay. Being a first time soon to be mom, I just want the best for my child. I also am going to do my best at being drug free( As in birth/ I am not a drug user). I am pretty sure I can do it. I figured if you can handle the pain for a little while, it will be gone before you know it. Plus I really dont want to be druged up when I am holding my child. I just dont feel right when thinking about that. I have read so many beneficial aspects of a water birth for the child, that I really want to go that way if my hospital provides it.
never heard of that before, it actually helps with delivering bubs head as the water helps counteract the pressure of the head crowning, it sounds to me like she pushed when she should have been just breathing babies head out, I've had 10 babies, all natural/active and drug free with my last one being a water birth and the erxperence blew me away :)
Really! Awesome. I recently moved to Alaska, and young lady I am becoming friends with at a local gas station, was telling me def not to do it. She said something about when she did it she lost the natural lubricant for delivering the baby?? and ended up ripping.
I had one with my last birth and it was amazing, will do it again if I get pregnant again, cant think of any cons :)
