Went to L&D today with contractions

Well It all started today at 9am, I had what I figured was BH contractions, They eventually went away, so I carried on with my chores. I paid bills, went to the bank, and went grocery shopping. During my trip to the grocery store I endured some really hard, painful contractions. I went ahead and checked out, got home and hubby was cleaning the gutters and doing yard work. He carried in the groceries, my neighbor helped me put them away, and all of a sudden I felt like I had pee'ed on myself. I went into the restroom and I had a peice of (TMI) Chunky discharge with a pink tint. So I called my doc and he had me go to L&D. I went ahead and went in, they had me pee in a cup and those tests came out normal. I was hooked up to the monitors, had a few contractions that weren't to bad, only measured at like 20 being the worst one. Baby was at a constant HB of 150, so that was good.

Had a pap done to check me for a yeast infection/vaginosis and other possible infections which all came back negative. My cervix is high, long and closed which is also good. I did also have some menstrual like back pain which was constant.

What im clueless about is that they said the pain and discomfort, extra discharge and my other symptoms were caused by me stretching. Kind of an odd diagnosis but I dealt with it as I was sooo starving and wanted food lol.

Im still having the cramping and BH like pressure in my belly, so we will see. If it continues I will go to MY doctor and see what he says.

So that was my day, the one day that it didnt rain, and wasn't miserably hot, I was stuck in the L&D lol. Oh well better safe than sorry.

Yeah the fluid intake isn't an issue. I drink 4 8 ounce glasses a day if not more. The baby is laying sideways, his butt is towards my right side, and his head is near my left hip. I have been feeling better today, still cramping a bit with a lot of pressure. Im sure it is just the stretching, as my round ligaments are killing me today! lol

Increase fluid intake and rest.  The amount of discomfort could have a lot to do with baby's position....around 27-28 weeks i was hvaing very intense BH that I swore were causing me to dialate becuase of the pressure...after seeing my doc he told me the usual of increasing my fluids by a LOT and to stop trying to do everything...to relax and let someone else do it and he also said that baby was FEET down...feet are stronger than hands so during the contractions baby was pushing his feet into the area of my cervix and causing more pain...drinking a lot more water helped....and then it suddenly stopped...no more pain just typical bh....at my next appt doc said baby had turned back to head down and that's why i wasn't hurting anymore.

You women better hope your baby doesnt come at 30 weeks or before because I've been there and it was the worst experience of my life, not to mention my poor baby life too. It took almost 2 years for him to get over being a premature baby and things arent still 100% but it's not like it was with all the hospitalization but still he had to see specialists throughout for his eyes, lungs, and heart. He broke my water at 27wks but I didnt dialate so i was on bed rest in the hospital for 3 weeks and like a moron I signed myself out because my other kids needed me and the next day my cord was coming down my vagina and if it wasnt for the baby being transverse, he would have crushed the cord and died from lack of oxygen. and even though I was given steriods to help develop his lungs, he wound up in the NICU for 1 month because he was 3lbs 4oz and he had to wait until he reached 4lbs and was able to keep his temp and was still sent home on a apnea monitor.  It was a nightmare.  Do what you can to keep those baby in as long as possible. I'm currently 34wks going on 35 on friday and my baby can still have problems. My goal is to reach 37wks and I'll be happy. My doc doesnt believe I'll make it to my c-section date which is  july 29  which then would make me a little over 38wks. at 37wks your considered full term.  My water had broken because I had an infection. Since then my doc has put me on keflex antibiotic twice so far so that we dont have  a repeat of my last birth.    I wish you all the very best, and please dont rush your babies, you'll be thankful later I promise.

Nope no shot, My doc doesnt believe in medications unless they are completely and 100% neccessary, which is why I like him so much. I have been relaxing as much as possible, but it is hard with 2 other children. I will hang in there, and just keep drinking my water.

I actually was in L&D for the same reasons last week.  I'm 28 weeks..   they just said, as long as your not dialating the contractions are fine..  did they give you a shot to help your uterus relax??   they offered it to me.. but i've been all natural through the entire pregnancy.. I really didnt want to get the shot unless it was really necessary..  just stay off your feet and get some rest..  thats what they told me..  i've felt much better this week :)

Wild.Blue- Im 25 weeks or 23 weeks depending on which due date you look at lol. I tell everyone im 25 weeks because im going by my original due date, instead of the new one.

Im always in and out of the docs office, and sometimes I feel like he is going to get mad, but I really dont care. He only has to deal with me for 3 more months, so he can suck it up lol.

Im sitting here with a nice bowl of raisin bran crunch STILL having BH pressure and back pain. It is irritating to think that this has to go on for another 3 months lol. Oh well because it will so be worth it in the long run.

aw your like 2 days ahead of me. i know what you mean when you say you felt like you peed that happens to me often and i hate it well it only happens when my baby is like punching or something down there and it feels like his little hand is about to pop out its scary and yeah the (tmi) discharge thing happens along with the whole feeling like peeing thing.  ive had really bad bh contractions to the point where im like crying my eyes out i didint know what they were at first since this is my first baby and when i first got bh i was like omg i thinks hes gonna come out already i was so scared. but i never go in to the doc or l&d i feel stupid always. like ive been having bad back pain and cramping and alot of (tmi) discharge. and i fel like dumb and intiminated by the doc nurses and the doc. and i was thinking about going to the doc or l&d if the cramps keep up but i just saw the doc like a week ago and feel like omg hes gona be mad. ya know!

I hear both of ya! LOL I have had 2 trips to L&D for contractions. Last time I was checked I was 90% effaced 3 cm and -1 station. UGG they sent me home in this misery. I want to have the baby already. I have been perpetually pregnant for 2 years!

how far along are you again? I know how you feel.. I went into l&d last night. I was having big contractions though, like 65-70 on the scale and they were 3 mins apart. But they sent me home because I am only dilated to 2 cm but I had effaced to 90% so that part is GREAT

Hopefully they pick up again and this baby will come on out
