Were you more uncomfortable with each pregnancy?

Were you more uncomfortable with each pregnancy?

I am really curious about this one because I keep getting conflicting information. This is my 3rd successful pregnancy (two mc and two healthy babies) 5th overall. My daughter was just born 21 months ago and I’m 17 weeks pregnant.

I am so uncomfortable this time around. The symptoms have been minimal and overall I’ve been feeling really good, but gosh my back and hips hurt all the time. I also have really bad round ligament pain already.

The dr and the nurses keep telling me that with each pregnancy things don’t go back to 100% normal so that’s why you have a little extra pain with the round ligaments and in the hips. I remember after my dd was born they asked if I wanted vicodin for the afterbirth pains and I laughed thinking it was a joke. A few hours later and the afterbirth contractions felt like labor it was awful and the nurses then laughed at me because apparently it gets worse each time.

I’m just surprised I guess because I’m in better shape this go around and more active. I thought that would help me. Maybe it’s because it’s the 3rd baby, the last two were close together, I’m lugging around a toddler all day and I’m not as young. I don’t know, but I feel like I must be doing something wrong. I’m turning into a whiner and can’t seem to get up or down without making some kind of umph or ouch noise

I've had 9 pregnancies and I might be pregnant again. It's been 2 1/2 years since my last one but it wasn't that bad. Some pregnancies (4th) I had really bad lower back pain and had to go to the chiropractor but they weren't all as bad as that one. I don't think my last one was as bad as the 4th. It just depends on the pregnancy. Each one is different.

I've had 3 full-term pregnancies and two miscarriages making this pregnancy #6. My HIPS HURT SO BAD!!! I'm only 20 weeks and already have pelvic floor pressure and pain. Also if I don't get enough water I get contractions (painful cramps) so keeping hydrated is so so so important no matter what pregnancy it is but I think it's more intense the more pregnancies you've had.

So yes - I think having had more pregnancies women may be more uncomfortable.

Yes, the after contractions are horrible!!!  Also keep in mind that they will get super intense while you are breastfeeding for those that intend to.  While you are nursing, your uterus contracts and it is just so painful.  I have to take my pain meds around the clock for the first few days.

When I had that incident that I spoke about in my previous post, the nurse is the one that told me they would get worse with each child and that it's as bad, if not worse, than being in full blown labor.  I think it's worse because the pain did actually make me pass out.

Chantal/Nicole, if they give you Hydrocodone (sp???), those can cause constipation also.  Who wants to be constipated at all, much less right after giving birth???!!!  So, keep some stool softeners handy as well :)

I had to take pain pills for over a week with Bella it was horrible. I couldn't believe that first night how much pain I was in. They had to bring me a heating pad and even with the drugs and heating pad I only slept for a few minutes on and off. I'm getting a support belt this time to help with the lower back pain too.

My symptoms are always the same and pretty much equally as bad, but the aches and pains do get worse.  This is my 7th!!!  With each one, it takes more of a toll on your body and each time we are a little bit older than we were the time before, so it makes sense.  Sure seems unfair though!!!!

I have noticed that I have only a certain amount of standing I can do a day.  I'm not kidding either.  It's like I can stand for preparing meals, cleaning, a little exercising and then I am just spent.  My body literally can handle only so much per day and then it WILL NOT do anymore.  I am so sore that I can't move anymore.  This past weekend, we went to a State Park on Sat. and then to a walking trail on Sun.  I thought I was going to die by the end of the weekend!!!  I was hurting everywhere.  Even my bones...down there....are starting to hurt now.

Chantal, the after contractions will get worse with each baby too.  I was told that after I had my 4th and I literally passed out in my hospital bed holding my baby.  I woke up to my husband trying to hold me, the baby, and then call for help with the nurse button.  Keep that in mind.  Once I got to #3, I had to get pain meds.  Just something to think about.  Also something for other moms that have only had 1 or 2 babies to think about.  It HURTS!!!!

This is my 5th pregnancy, 3rd baby, and I can definitely say there is more pain with each pregnancy and after my 2nd, when your uterus is contracting back...OH MY....I was in tears! With my first, it was bearable and fine. I guess it will be pretty bad again, and I will be sure to take something. But as for during pregnancy, my hips, inner thighs, pelvis, and back hurt so much more this time around. I always have to ask my hubby for help me when I am getting up from sitting or getting out of bed. I also have this weird thing that I never had in my other pregnancies and I'm not sure if it's related to the sciatic nerve pain, but when I walk, I go to put one foot down and there have been several times where I almost fell to the ground because of a super sharp pain in my lower back. It's really strange! I get scared now thinking I'm gonna fall walking to the bathroom. =/

This is my 2nd pregnancy - my first child is almost 17 months old.  I definitely have more aches and pains this time around - I have pelvic pressure, my hips hurt, my inner thighs hurt, my back hurts, I grunt and moan when I move, I can't easily roll over in bed - LOL  I am one whiny pregnant woman!  I also think that the pains are worse because I have to carry my son around sometimes as well, and carrying 2 babies - one who is 25 pounds - takes a toll on your body, that's for sure.

I knew I wasn't the only one feeling like this! This is my 6th pregnancy (2 mc's) and right now im 31 weeks 2 days and my back is killing me. I have bad vericose veins on the back of my right thigh. They hurt like you know what and are swollen so bad I dont even want to wear shorts. I cant breath half the time and my 2 yr old makes fun of me. I hoep most of these things will go away (especially the swollen veins!!) But I guess it comes with the pregnancy package.

Thanks ladies it's funny the things you DON'T read about in any book or magazine. It really does get harder on your body each time. That said symptom wise this is the easiest pregnancy I've had so maybe it evens out. My last delivery was super quick and easy so I'm not worried about that, but already have anxiety about the pains after. Can I get a two week epidural ;-)

I also called a few girlfriends after posting this to ask around and see what they said. Everyone seems to have the same issue more aches and pains with each pregnancy. I am going to a chiropractor and also getting physical therapy. Apparently the relaxin you produce for your hips to move also can cause neck and back injuries.

While my symptoms varied with each pregnancy, the discomforts got worse each time.  I've had 8 pregnancies,...2 were miscarriages, 6 full term-including one stillbirth.

Hi,

I have so far had 6 pregnancies, 3 successful, 3 unsuccessful. My first pregnancy was 2002, and my last one I fell pregnant in 2007. I had my 3 children in 3 years also, which I think took it's toll on my body, I didn't really enjoy my 3rd pregnancy as I was so tired all the time with a 2 year old and a baby. I swore after my youngest was born I did not want anymore children, that's how tired my body was feeling. Think it all depends on the time between children. Hey presto my youngest is now 3 and am ttc baby 4. Am determined I will enjoy my next pregnancy as it will be my last.

OMG I feel so like you, I have had 6 pregnancies 4 are healthy and I am currently 12.4 weeks pregnant now. I had my last baby 10 years ago and from 6 months on I was in agony all day every day even at night. My hips, back, muscles and my pubic bone, were terrible. The pubic bone felt like ever time I walked or rolled over in bed that it was grinding together. I had terrible cramps in my stomach when laying in bed or rolling over. In the end I really couldn't walk at all or get out of bed, needed help to roll over to a different position at night and someone to pull me out of bed in the mornings.
The delivery was great, I know this is going to be weird but I actually enjoyed it and couldn't wait for all the pain to be over. Once I delivered my 8lbs daughter I thought yah everything is over can get some sleep... but nooooo every time she cried or even snuffled my uterus started screaming, the after birth pains were worse then the labour pains to me. I begged for pethadine but no all they offered me is Tylenol .
I am very worried, I am only 3 months and already when I roll over in bed I am getting cramps on the left and right of my lower tummy :(.

This is only my 2nd successful pregnancy as I have one son and 2 mc. I was totally fine with my son and almost never uncomfortable. This time I have the worst back and hip pain ever and cannot sleep, I just want to cry. My Dr even gave me Tylonal 3 and it barely took the edge off for a couple hours. So finally I went to the chiro and he said my pelvis is extremely rotated and I felt better immediately. I am not 100% but I am not in the extreme pain I was before. I can actually to to work and sit down and sleep with the heating pad (which did nothing before). He explained about the hormone your body releases that relaxes your hips and said that sometimes they over relax and move out of place. This made sense since it didn't happen with last baby. I would highly recommend the chiro since it made a huge difference for many ladies I have spoken to about this.
