What are my chances of carrying this pregnancy?
I took a home pregnancy test on nov 8th, it was positive. I went to hospital nov 9th with cramping in stomach and back pain. Doctor ran blood work, urine, and ultrasound. They said that hcg levels were 866. Ultrasound showed sac but nothing else. I guess I am wondering what are my chances of this pregnancy lasting? My lmp was sept 20th. That would put me at about 7 weeks. I am very concerned about this because they should see more. What are the chances that I an earlier that 7 weeks and everything will be ok?

They did an ultrasound and didn't see anything except an cyst on my right ovary. They also mention eptopic. Went back to Dr office Monday and levels were 356. Went back on wed and they were 704. I go for an ultrasound wed. I'm so nervous.

So just wanted to add an update. I am now 16 weeks and 2 days pregnant. I have been diagnosed with a hyper thyriod (they are controlling it with meds) and i am being sent to see a cardiologist for my heart condition (WPW). Other than these few things my pregnancy is going ok. I am very tired and get short of breath and racey heart feeling alot but they said it is from the tyriod and possibly my heart. I will know more soon when they check details of baby's heart for deafects. I just hope that what I have been through will give others hope who might be going through the same thing. DONT GIVE UP! LET THINGS HAPPEN ON THERE OWN! A DNC IS NOT NEEDED MOST OF THE TIME, YOUR BODY WILL CLEAN YOU OUT or IN MY CASE HAVE A PROGRESSED PREGNANCY. IT IS WORTH THE WAIT, STRESS AND THE NOT KNOWING WHAT WILL HAPPEN.
So... My story get really good. I have hope for other people. I was told I was miscarrying. I refused to have dnc. Ultrasound was showing only 5weeks, levels were not increasing at a doubleing rate.I waited 3 more week that made me 8weeks. They redid levels and were still increasing but not doubling, I reqeusted trans vaginal ultrasound. They gave me it and we saw a HEARTBEAT! I am 9weeks 2 days now. This just goes to show they can be wrong.
So here is my update. Levels still increasing. Nov 27th they were at 39000. Went today more another beta check. Should know soon. Also repeat level cheach thursday. Will keep posting. No bleeding only spotting.
Went to doctor tuesday morning. They did ultrasound and blood work. Ultrasound showed only sac again. As soon as I got home started bleeding. Went to er later that afternoon, after contacting doctor. Hospital found cervix open and ultrasound showed sac and eggyolk. They also took blood work levels were somewhere around 1700. So they have decreased. I went back to doctor Thursday they did blood work and set up another appt for Monday. Monday will finally talk to the doctor himself. Just a little confused not sure what to think. If I was miscarrying I would think I would be in so sort of pain and would be bleeding more. I had a gush of watery blood on tuesday, spotting through now. Nothing like a normal period even. Just very strange.
Thank you all! I will keep posting my progress. I am calling doctor tomorrow to see what they have planned. I hope to get in soon to see them. Like I said before the pregnancy with my son was nothing like this.
HCG numbers increasing the way yours did sounds very encouraging! Ovulating later than you thought (or the doctors assumed) is definitely a possibility - it happens a lot.
the pain and cramping is alright. you may have ovulated later than you thought therefor you may not be that far along. I'd think that at the time you saw the sac you were probably about 5 1/2 weeks or so;....
My LMP was off by a week. they said I was due Dec 19-20... but I'm actually due Dec 25th and ultrasounds later on confirmed this. :)

The fact that your #'s have tripled is great!! It is quite possible that they didn't see anything in your u/s because you are not as far along as you thought. It is actually also quite normal to have cramping in early pregnancy, check around on the boards and you will find LOTS of posts about this. I would try to relax if I were you and enjoy the pregnancy for now (I know this is easier said then done), as long as the cramps aren't horrible and there is no bleeding. Maybe ask your Dr. to follow your HCG levels for a couple more days and reschedule and u/s in a week or 2 to see if you can see more then.

PS... I am 24 weeks pg and at my 1st u/s with this baby all they saw was a gestational sac. I think it wasn't until right around 7 weeks or just after that we actually saw out little bean with his heart beating away... it would make sense that even if you were off by just a couple of days that the u/s could have been done too early (((HUGS)))

I got the results from hospital. They tripled. they are now 2598. I havnt been able to talk to the doctor yet since office closed today. Will be calling first thing in the morning. Hopeing the stomach pain and slight cramping is ok. I have a son that 22months old dont remember any of this with pregnancy. I worked with last pregnancy and that could be why things are different this time.
I have called doctor they retested levels today. I should know in about 15 mins new levels. Doctor office is closed today was tested at hospital lab. They are supposed to go from the new results to tell me what to do but cant talk to doctor til tomorrow.
