What could this be?

Hello. I just have a quick question maybe some of you ladies could answer for me.

For just a couple of days my breasts seem sore and heavy, my nipples started getting these little goosebump like things on them. Yesterday I started feeling this light cramping. So I figured my period was coming. This morning when I wiped it was a light pink/brownish discharge. Not at all like my periods when I first start which are really heavy. Now I just had this brown discharge but that's it. No flow at all. I know my last period was May 1st. Since I moved up here in the mountains my periods have changed but they seem to be regulating to the first of every other month so I wasn't suppost to start til July 1st. I was reading on implantation bleeding and I read that implantation bleeding starts 4 weeks after last menstration. Could I be experiencing implantation bleeding? Does that mean I could be pregnant?

Thank you ladies so much for your help. Oh I was also wondering that if I am experiencing implantion bleeding when is a good time to take a test? See my 21st is Friday and if I'm pregnant I don't want to drink and harm anything.

Thank you
Heather

Lol that was my problem too...I always would look at my chart at like 3PM and go "oh, darnit...I forgot to temp. OH well, I'll do it tomorrow" do you wake up to an alarm clock? you could try putting the thermometer on top of the button that you use to turn it off.

No it's 14 days before your period. the "14 days" (or two week wait) is what is known as the luteal phase, during which the egg is released and implantation either occurs or does not depending on whether fertilization occurs. this is a common misconception. if your cycles are 28-days long, for instance, 14 days before your period and 14 days after cd1 are the exact same day, so many women don't realize that it's the luteal phase that affects ovulation, NOT the beginning of your period. some women have a longer or shorter luteal phase, but to calculate ovulation based on cd1 as opposed to the luteal length is erroneous and can cause problems in women who have longer phases, because obviously if your cycle is longer (say, 35 days) you're ovulating closer to cd 20/21 as opposed to cd14.

the best way to explain it so that it makes sense is this....obviously, an egg has only a limited lifespan, agreed? so if you're the type of woman who has a 35-day-cycle, and the egg released closer to cd 14, the egg would simply die in the womb after about 14 days and be sitting there until your period started. that's why it's important to understand luteal phases. because the egg releases, and it has approximately 14 days to become fertilized before the body says "no good" and releases it via the menstrual cycle if it's unfertilized.

it's entirely possible that the month you skipped was just an anomaly and your cycles are back to being the same length, albeit having a different start day. have you been charting your temps?

I used to start either the 15th or 26th of every month. When I moved to colorado in feb i didn't have a period then I had one on March 1st. skipped April. Then started May 1st. So I didn't think I would be starting this month but July 1st. This morning I had really light bleeding. I'm not flowing or anything just when I wipe. At first i thought I was starting so used a tampon but I took it out and there was nothing on it but brown discharge stuff. sorry if tmi.

wait, so you're having approximately 60-day cycles? the first of every other month, yes? you would be ovulating about 14/15 days before you can expect your period to come no matter how long your cycles are, so I would assume you won't be ovulating until closer to June 18th...but I may be reading your post wrong.

i have a calendar on my phone. I put in the days I start and it gives me my ovulation day for every month. It says I should be ovulating on the 31st of May. It's the second now. So do yo think this could be implantation bleeding and what my husband and I have been trying for 6 months has now paid off? That would make us so happy!

If your last period was May 1st-if you have a 28 day cycle you would be due for one now... Implantation bleeding occurs close to ovulation - which is usually 12-15 days after the first day of your last period - so I would not think 4 weeks after your period you would expeirence implantiation bleeding - probably just a really light period...  For testing - you usually wait 14 days after ovulation which would be your due date - some people test earlier some wait until they are late but there are a lot of ovulation calculators and such on the internet... they may help if you are TTC - good luck
